STF is perhaps best described as an Elected Dictatorship, or a Constitutional Monarchy, depending on one's point of view. Every 8 months the members of STF elect a President and Vice President. For the remainder of the President's term, he (or she) serves as an elected despot. The President is empowered with making changes to the club through the use of the edict system. He also has the ability to make more significant, lasting changes by issuing a bill (which is then checked by the Egotists).
The current President is Drew Z. Diamond, and the current Vice President is Steve Johnson.

- The Cabinet
Over the years, responsibility has been develoved down to the Department Directors (QDirs) and Fleet Commanders (FComms), collectively known as the Cabinet. Each Cabinet member is aided by an assistant (AQDir and AFComm). Together, they are responsible to the President for the day-to-day running of their department or fleet, as well as setting policy in line with the Club Bylaws. The current Cabinet members (and their assistants) are:
- Fleet 1 - Vice Admiral Jack Dipper and Fleet Captain Terry Calvin
- Fleet 2 - Rear Admiral Kathrine Dedul and Captain BJ Janzen
- Fleet 3 - Fleet Captain Matthew Kleinman and Captain Fran B
- Fleet 4 - Captain Sam Bibb and Captain Erin Green
- Fleet 5 - Fleet Captain Chris Grinder and Captain Jeremy DeSpain
- Fleet 6 - Fleet Captain Terry Calvin and Commodore Sidney Parker
- Academy - Commodore Steve Johnson and Commodore Tyra Schroll
- Engineering Department - Fleet Captain Robert Archer and Lieutenant Commander Aaron Calhoun
- Gamemaster Department - Commordore Kevin Sawyer and Commodor Gene Gibbs
- Internet Department - Fleet Captain Thomas Bates and Vice Admiral Jack Dipper
- Personnel Department - Fleet Captain Helen Hosick and Fleet Captain Steve Sigle

To aid the President and the Cabinet in the running of the club, there are several Subject Matter Experts known as Executive Assistants. Whilst the Cabinet is mainly a political choice of the President, and is dissolved at the end of each term, the Executive Assistants are non-political posts that stand ready to advise. The current Executive Assistants are:
- Coder - Vice Admiral Jack Dipper
- Election Co-ordinator - Commodore Steve Johnson and Commodore Lindsay Bayes
- Librarian - Admiral Larry Garfield
- Marketing and Advertising Co-orindator - Commodore Tyra Schroll and Commander Amber Cooper
- Executive Government Oversight (EGO)
A couple of terms back, EGO was formed in order to provide the Goverment with a formalised set of people who knew the history of STF, as well as providing a check and balance system for the President. The EGO team comprise of 3 Flag Officers that have been voted in by the active Flag Officers of STF. Each Egotist sits for a term of 2 years. The current Egotists are:
- Admiral Larry Garfield - EGO Chairman until October 2013
- Vice Admiral Jack Dipper - term ends July 2014
- Fleet Captain Steven Sigle - term ends March 2015
