Mission Brief

The Hornet Class Assault Boat was designed tocomplete the following tasks:

Transportating soldiers to a landing zone insevere combat conditions; Use as a first strike vessel during combatsituations; Disabling ships for boarding missions; Performing captureoperations under various scenarios; Performing search and rescueoperations for de-planed pilots or crews of terminally damaged shipsin combat situations; Use on a starbase as needed, for missionsbeyond the capability of a shuttle, yet not requiring a full starship(or when a full starship is not available); Provide fire support forstarfighters in a combat zone.

 

Description

The top deck is the reserved for the bridge andcrew quarters. The bottom 2 decks can be openly changed by use ofmodular units. There are different units for different situations.These units fall into two categories: weapons, and transport. Theexterior of the ship looks somewhat like the Defiant Class onlyslightly smaller.

 

Technical Specifications

Dimensions: 15 m (3 Decks) tall, 30 m wide, 45 m long

Crew: 8 with no modules, in emergency situations the Hornet can hold 17. Some modules require special personel, such as the Warp Pack, and Troop Pack.

Engines: Impulse: One primary impulse engine with a top speed of .25c

Basic Warp: No warp capabilities.

Warp module: 2 Warp field generators in 2 of the Gunwale module slots

Cruising Speed: Warp 3.5

Maximum Speed: Warp 4.5 for 18 hours 39 minutes

Basic Armament:

Weapons: 2 type X (10) repeating phaser arrays (top and bottom) each with 30 emmiters.

2 quantam torpedo tubes (base of starboard and port weapon wings) with 15 torpedoes per tube stored within the hull.

1 standard tractor beam emmiter (top) to help maneuver the Hornet Class to dock.

Shields: In the Hornet Class there are 4 shield generators, 3 primary, 1 backup. Each one of those shield generators is the equivilent of 2 runabout-scale shield generators.

The Hornet Class optimizes the Modified Shield System (MSS) created by Mark Longanbach, and approved by the ED.

Armor: The Hornet Class has a layer of quantoberilium armor sandwiched between two layers of ablative.

Docking Hardpoints: The Hornet Class has a docking hatch on its topside designed to allow it to be piggybacked by any ship with a universal exterior connect hardpoint (as exemplified in the Galaxy-class design).

 

Modules

In the Hornet Class there are 4 gunwale module slots and 8 interior module slots. There is also 4 hardpoints on each wing, to which extra weapons could be attached.
