Hov qIj-class Attack Cruiser
On Stardate 96032.3, it was deemed by the Klingon High Council that a new class must be created to deal with the new threat created by the Borg. The council sent this request to the Klingon Engineering Department. The specs were fairly hard to satisfy: first, the new class must be able to withstand a Borg assault, possibly even defeat a Borg Cube if more than one ship present. The council and engineers also decided that the new class shall include the newest cloaking device.
The Engineering Department took these specifications to heart and created the Hov qIj Attack Cruiser. The prototype surpassed even the Council's expectations. And on Stardate 97011.2 the Council Decided to put the Hov qIj into full production. On Stardate 97080.3 the I.K.C. chunDab was commissioned under the command of Captain Dalk.
DRIVE
The Hov qIj-class is powered by one of the largest Warp Cores ever put on a Klingon Ship of the line. The Ship has a primary and Auxiliary Power Reactors. The Auxiliary Reactor supplies power to the Bridge section should in the event of a catastrophic Warp Core Failure the Bridge be separated from the rest of the ship.
WEAPONS
The main weapons of this ship are as follows:
Disruptors: 14 Turrets
The Turrets are all controlled from a gunnery chair located aft of the Captain's Chair on the Main Bridge. The Photon Torpedoes are also targeted through the Gunnery Chair. Although the Hov qIj does have a tactical Console its is usually only in use at times when the Ship is not at Red Alert. When the ship is at Red Alert the Tactical Console controls are transferred to the gunnery chair, and the Damage Control assessment board is transferred to either the engineering console or the science console.

DEFENSE
Shielding is Standard although unlike most Klingon Ships of the line this one has Primary and Secondary shielding. The primary shields are roughly 1.25 times the strength used on the Enterprise-D,while the secondary shields are only half as strong it was felt this was sufficient to withstand a borg assault.
The Armor on the ship is the Klingon Standard of Reactive armor plate/deflector grid which is designed to dissipate the effects of ship damage.
OTHER
The Hov qIj also incorporates many of the design aspects of the Vor'cha-class, although many of these are now included on the ship instead of as modules. These upgrades are as follows:
The Hov qIj is also equipped with the standard Cloaking Device as used on all Imperial Klingon Vessels.
Unlike most STF vessels the Hov qIj does not have Emergency force fields to use in case of hull breech. The ship does have however Doors and bulkheads capable of handling any hull breech. These doors are often only shut during a combat situation or if the hull is compromised at any time.
All torpedo tube launchers are removable for ease of service, they can either be removed by a field repair unit or planetary based repair facility.
The ship also has three shuttle bays each containing three shuttles a piece
