The Visigoth Class ship was designed with the purpose of fulfilling Star-Fleet's ever-growing need for an all-purpose medium cruiser. Star-Fleet Engineering deemed that with no medium cruisers currently in service, one was needed. All previous medium cruisers were too old and were decommissioned. The Visigoth is the product of their endeavor. Its size allows it speed and cost advantages over the larger exploration vessels. The Visigoth strives to adhere to Star-Fleet's mission: "To seek out new life and new civilizations. To boldly go where no man has gone before." Star-fleet wanted a ship with speed ratings that lean closer to a light cruiser and weapon ratings that lean closer to a heavy cruiser. Both the light and heavy cruisers are double-edged swords, the Visigoth is here to make a compromise between speed and firepower, while not necessarily having the speed and firepower characteristics of the light and heavy cruisers.
The Visigoth has a total of 28 decks. It has a totally original shape. It has long nacelle pylons that jut out from the main stardrive section in the front. The stardrive has a groove so to speak that the saucer rests in. When you think of the Visigoth, try to picture a Ferengi Marauder.
The Visigoth can reach a maximum warp of Warp Factor 9.9. It can sustain maximum warp for twelve hours. Cruising speed for the Visigoth is Warp Factor 7.
The Visigoth has a maximum impulse speed of .36c when the saucer impulse engines are on and auxiliary power activated. This speed is used in emergencies only. Full impulse is .29c. There are two impulse engines in the saucer section and two in the stardrive section.
The Visigoth also has standard thrusters. The saucer section can move about using thrusters if it has to separate.
The Visigoth carries a standard weapon cache. She can hold her own in most fights, but may have to retreat if opposed by some of the heavier ships of other races.
The Visigoth carries 7 Type-X Phaser Arrays. Each saucer array has a total of 200 emitters, while the stardrive ones have only 150 emitters. They are located at the following places. (1 dorsal saucer, 1 ventral saucer, 1 forward saucer, 1 ventral stardrive, 1 dorsal stardrive, 1 rear stardrive, and 1 fore stardrive)
The Visigoth carries two photon torpedo launchers. (1 forward saucer, and 1 rear stardrive.) The Visigoth carries 150 standard photon torpedoes and 25 quantum torpedoes.
The Visigoth uses normal layered shielding. Its basic shield system is 120% of the original Voyager Class shielding. It has more powerful shield generators than the original Voyager Class. It has a refresh rate of once every 0.000007 seconds.
The Visigoth uses standard tritanium hull armor. Some key sections have added heat sinks, which help dissipate EM blasts focused on key parts of the ship.^M
The Visigoth has 2 shuttlebays housing 3 standard shuttles/runabouts each. (One rear saucer, one rear stardrive.) The stardrive one is slightly larger than normal so that it can accomodate the larger Valhalla Class runabouts. Of the 6 total shuttlecraft, two are type-6 personal shuttles, two are class two shuttles, and two are Valhalla Class runabouts. The saucer shuttlebay contains the shuttles and the stardrive shuttlebay contains the Valhalla Runabouts.
The Visigoth's saucer section, as stated above, can be separated from the main stardrive in case of extreme emergencies. While the two can be separated to have two separate attacking vessels, it is not advised to do so.
The Visigoth utilizes the latest piece of hardware from Abraxas Shipworks. This computer core is the EUNIX (Endocyclic Unified Neural Integrated Xenotechnologies) Nodular Core Network.
The Visigoth also houses a standard M-10 computer core that is located in the saucer section. The M-10 stays primarily dormant when the ship is not separated. The M-10 keeps track of the same information that the EUNIX gathers, but it isn't able to receive commands until total separation is achieved or if for some unlikely reason, the EUNIX fails.
The sickbay area is of standard size and houses the EMH Mark 2. The Visigoth is prepared to handle most medical cases that may arise.
Unlike some other vessels of its size, the Visigoth doesn't support mission modules.
The Visigoth has 4 main transporter rooms that can each transport 6 people (the number of pads available in each transporter room) every 1.5 minutes. There are also the cargo transporters located in the cargo bays that can transport 4 loads of goods every two minutes.
The Visigoth is powered by 20 primary fusion generators, and 10 back-up generators that switch on if the primary ones fail. This will provide the ship with half of its normal power so some systems will go offline to compensate. All holodecks and recreational areas will shut down. The M-10 computer core will go off-line. Engine ratings will also suffer. All other non-essential systems will either go off-line or be restrained. Shields and weapons will stay powered up because the only likely way the back-ups will have to be used is in battle.
The Visigoth sensor system does not contain any significant features that make it superior to other sensor systems.
The Visigoth uses the same sensor system found in the Phoenix Class.
The Visigoth Class ships are named for ancient and modern tribes.
