Introduction

This is a brief introduction to mIRC. First of all remember that if you've downloaded it from mIRC.com, that you can use it freely for an evaluationary period of 30 days.

Setting up your client

Once you have mIRC loaded up, you need to get to the options.
mIRC options
This can be achieved by pressing the tools button on the taskbar (circled in red); pressing Alt+O; or under the Tools bar. This will open up the Options box.

Choosing the right server

Selecting your server
Under the Connect > servers, select an appropriate Sorcerynet server from the choices available in the dropdown.

Customising your nick

Setting up your nick
Under the Connect you can set up various options, such as what name will be displayed if someone performs a WHOIS, your email address, and your primary nickname, and a backup just incase. In the above example the nick will be STFGUEST. If that nickname is already taken, it will default to STFGUEST2

Joining #Star-fleet

Next, we'll set up mIRC so that it will automatically identify you, if you've registered your nickname with the server, and join the #star-fleet channel:
Customising mIRC
Under the Connect > Options, there is a button called " Perform " (this is circled in red on the diagram above) Clicking on this will bring up another window:
Perform Options
It is in here that you can specify certain commands to be performed when your client joins the server. In the above example the following commands have been added:
/msg nickserv identify PASSWORD The word PASSWORD would need to be replaced with the relevant password for your nick.
/j #star-fleet This simple command tells the server you want to join the #Star-fleet channel.
Remember to make sure the tick box is marked to enable these commands. Once that is done, they should be performed when your client joins the Sorcery network.

Channel Rules

Please read the channel rules before joining #Star-fleet. Ignorance of the rules is no excuse!
