Jim, I would like to discuss some ideas I have abnout
revamping the Engineering Dept.  These are just ideas yet,
I'm not making an official proposal.
 
1) First, I'd like to reinstate the STF DRYDOCKS under the
control of the Engineering Dept.  These would be in the job
of changeing, upgrading or overhauling ships per specs and
the the request of the ship's crew.
 
2) Second, I'd like to create an Office of Registry under
the Engineering Dept.  This one man office would be in
charge of entering and maintaining the Names, Registry
numbers, and ships class and type.
 
3) Third, I would like to create the Office of Design.
This Office would be in charge of maintaining the actual
specs and designs for the different ships.
 
4) Forth, I heard that was supposed to be an Engineering
Council.  This is currently not in use.  I woujld like to
recreate it, but change the name to Engineering Forum and
make it informal.  This would be a place where Engineers
would be able to kick around new ideas for devices and
equipment.  4) Forth, with all this new equipment, I'd like
to move the Engineering Dept. to the "STF = " prefix, and
reorganize the command structure like so:
 
                   Engineering Department Head

         Office of Registry   |   Office of Design

                         STF Drydocks
                            [NEXT]
The position of the Forum would be for advisory only.
