The Cast of Characters
SNN -- properly, "CNN of STF" or "The Starfleet News Network" -- began in late 1991, or possibly early 1992, under the guidance of Genesun Han. Genesun, better-known by his RPG handle, "Admiral Larimda ME," created the network to post a satirical news show, a la "Saturday Night Live"'s Weekend Update. In late '92 future STF President Mike Cathcart also began writing for SNN, and took over the network when Genesun left.
Very little survives of these two early SNN Editors-in-Chief -- very little, that is, in my databanks (if you have anything from these two that isn't shown here -- send it to me! Please!).
In late 1994 then-Captain Mike Ballway began publishing SNN UPDATE, a somewhat more-serious newsletter for the club. Little known is that Mike was writing SNN before he began on SNN UPDATE; his early writings are indexed here. Later, after Cathcart left, Mike Ballway started writing freelance articles again (this time under the RPG persona Adam Kent). In 1997, former STFer Mike Bourdaa rejoined the club and wrote a few SNN articles while Ballway was on vacation. All of this proves that SNN doesn't stop at WeBBsights and SNN UPDATE . . . it just gets better!
