All of you pollsters and pundits, listen up. The fate of STF for the next four-or-so months will be announced in the next few minutes. That's right, just as promised, this week's SNN UPDATE is dedicated to Everyone's Favorite Starfleet Topic, Politics! <sinister grin>. But first, late-breaking news from the OT area: GM, Captain, President, Engineering Director, Academy Commandant, Doer, and all-around good guy Commodore Velos "1-800-ABCDEFG" Larech has announced his retirement, effective immediately, from STF. The Commodore, who was running for President, has expressed his deep dismay at not only the lack of RPGing going on, but also the way that leading STF characters fought each other while the real menace was the inactivity in the ships. Strangely enough, his resignation note comes a week after the suggestions by Hertzsch, Ballway, and others to tone down the political element in STF and concentrate more on RPGing. Citing his own experience as an example, Acting Acting Acting President Mike "Just Say No" Ballway denied Ken's request for resignation yesterday. Today, however, will see the inauguration of a new President. What he will say on the matter is unknown.

=/\= SPECIAL BULLETIN

  •    And now, the news you all have been waiting for. After a long and grueling campaign trail that took our candidates from the sloshing, freezing, wintry cold of the Misamore Memorial Outhouse to the hot, sticky, humid atmosphere of a certain STF0 Region Supernova, the much-coveted Center Seat is no longer up for grabs. At 12:00 EDT, the polls closed and the fate of the Presidency was sealed. The quest for the Ballway Mail was at an end.

As most of you know, the votes were Emailed to bwsc65c@prodigy.com, which is my Email adress. This made voting confidential. In prior years, voting was done by open reply; this year, I will disclose nobody's vote by my own. If Jaxa would like to tell you who she voted for, it is her prerogative. I will not.

Finally, the results: As expected, Commodore Ken "Velos" Marklan did not do well. Despite his own abstinence from the Voting, however, he did get two out of the thirteen votes cast.

Greg "I want this office so bad it" Hertzsch and his running mate Adam "Twelve" Hesch were tied for first place until the final vote was cast. The H/H faithful numbered five.

Eliminating those two, we here at SNN UPDATE congratulate the winning pair, weighing in at Six Votes, Randy "This Asteroid Is My Asteroid" McCullick and Nick "Oh-Vin" Oven. Congrats, guys. The next election is scheduled for around the same time that hell freezes over.

It's been a great Political Season, guys. I hope we never do this again.

is published every once in a while by Mike "What A Blast" Ballway. While Mike does have views, contrary to popular belief, they are NOT necessarily the views of SNN or even of PUN. In fact, they're not even necessarily the views of the Almighty Sisko, so pbbt. SNN UPDATE is distributed (hopefully) to every ship, and follows the Journalistic Motto of "Quick, Informative, Totally Biased Reporting Of STF Events." If you have any complaints, stuff it. No, seriously: Any complaints, comments, etc., should be emailed to the Writer/Publisher. Commodore Mike "bwsc65c@prodigy.com" Ballway
