It's June, and we all know what that means -- new members!
Hello, and welcome back to SNN UPDATE, where we just LOVE
new members. For those of you who don't know what we are,
we are STF's best (actually, the only) Club-wide distrib-
ution newsletter. Fear not, we only publish once every two
weeks. At most.
Anyway, in this month's news: A conspicuous new member
joins, Jello Wars rage in the OT, and the latest CHAT
meet... all of this, and more, in today's SNN UPDATE!
=/\= NEWS
* On 2 June, Vice President Nick "Why is it that I always
get this nickname wrong?" Oven announced that the STF
Yearbook, originally concieved as a USPS-distributed hard-
bound volume, would instead be posted onto the Internet's
World Wide Web. With the aid of a scanner, Nick hopes to
put the picture of every STFer brave enough to submit one
onto his server -- contact the Veep in "STF PRINTING PRESS"
* On a more somber note, STFer Sue "Jolanne Jaxa" Isik,
captain of the Trinitron, announced her retirement from
STF on 4 June. Citing an increasingly hectic RL life as
her reason, she left the Trinitron in the somewhat capable
hands of Nick "I still can't think of a good nickname for
you" Oven. Being that she's still on good terms with us
(phew!), she stated that she wished to be kept informed of
all CHAT meets -- just to stay in touch.
* Speaking of CHAT, the CHAT meet on 2 June was, to put it
mildly, a disaster. Although SNN UPDATE did not have any
reporters on the scene (oops), we have it on good author-
ity that there were only two or three attendees. Presi-
dent Randy E. "Not so Fast, Tim!" McCullick asked for a
make-up meet in Mid-June, and preperations are already
underway to put on a meet on the weekend of 15 June.
Contact Mike "Cray Z" Ballway at "STF CHAT MEET!" to
 suggest a date & time.
* The "PREMsident" had his RPG back-story generator on full
speed ahead on 9 June, when he posted a complete backstory
for the Xavier Fleet Yards. The XFYards are the home of
the Aurora- and Nimitz-Classes (two of STF's four
"original" designs) and Randy's home-base as Dockmaster.
STF's other starship construction complex, SB93's Churlsan
Han Fleet Yards, saw action on 8 June as Mike "Get 'im,
Randy!" Ballway posted an explanatory note for that
facility. For more information, visit "STF0 XAVIER YARDS"
 and "STF2 *SB93 HAN YARDS."
* Located just "south" of us on the Games BB, the STNG
(Star Trek-Next Generation) club has shared space with STF
ever since The Club BB days. At times the clubs have
acted almost as "sister fleets" -- when the Academy was
 first proposed, it was a joint operation between the two;
The STF Engineering Department is based off of STNG's Tech
Department. Now, the bond has been solidified as Lt. (jg)
Emily "I just had to try" Braunstein has joined STF. Req-
uesting the CE spot on the Connie (ostensibly to serve
next to yours truly, although I have no idea why anyone
would WANT to), "Em," as her friends call her, is going
through the Academy at the moment. Congrats, Em, you're
the first cadet to get an SNN article all to yourself!
=/\= SNN UPDATE
is published every once-in-a-while by Mike "Well now, isn't
that SPECIAL" Ballway. The opinions expressed herein are
not necessarily the opinions of STF, nor are they neces-
sarily the opinions of SNN, Siskoism, Blue Jello, or the
STNG Admiralty. In fact, they're not even necessarily his
opinions. SNN UPDATE follows the journalistic Motto of
"Quick, Informative, Totally Biased Reporting of STF
Events" and is distributed, hopefully, to every ship. If
you have a complaint (although you SHOULDN'T <g>), stuff
it. No, seriously: Any complaints, comments, yadda yadda,
should be emailed to the Publisher/Writer. --Cdre. Mike
