After a short commercial interruption, Welcome Back Once
Again to SNN UPDATE. Today we're going to examine all
those little things in STF that we forgot to examine
yesterday: For example, the REAL inside dope on McCullick,
Midyette, and More. AND, the Final Fate of the Dresden.
AND, more information on the New Fleet. AND, highlights of
the Premsident's Addresses of the last few weeks, AND, this
really obnoxious Sentance that Ate Manhattan at the end of
the opening paragraph, telling you this.
=/\= NEWS
* In the second week of July, 1996, President Randy "God
Emperor of STF" McCullick issued three notes in the "STF -
PREZ ADRESS" subject, establishing by edict finally the
ranks and positions of STF. The much-contested Rank list
includes all the "normal" ranks up to Fleet Captain, Comm-
odore, and places Vice Admiral between Cdre. and Admiral,
and Fleet Admiral above that. Notable exceptions to The
List: Vice Flt. Adm., Rear Admiral, and Flag Admiral. The
Premsident dismissed these as "not needed."
* Also established in that two-note posting were the On-
Ship staff listing (which remains unchanged, except for a
misspelling of "counselor" <g>), the Command listing (also
remaining unchanged), and the various ways of appointing
and approvals needed for transfers, departmental direct-
ors, and other positions. Basically, it is a definitive
statement from a Premz known for "sticking to his guns"
and not being afraid to step on toes to push through
sweeping reforms. SNN UPDATE applauds his clarification
efforts in this particularly sticky STF topic.
* One of the sadder parts of McCullick's 7th July Adress
was the decommissioning of the USS Dresden of Fleet Two,
reducing STF's combined strength to five ships, a number
that used to reflect, in the Midyette days, the number of
ships dedicated to Fleet Two alone. Hopefully, the Web
fleet will bring that number up, but for now the Dresden
is history, moved to the #2 "recomm" spot (that is, second
on the list of ships to be recommissioned when STF's pop-
ulation justifies it). The Dresden had formely been in
the STBB "Colony" Fleet 3 during its existance, and had
been transferred back "home" to Fleet Two when the Colony
was assessed as a failure. The decommissioning was promp-
ted by Dresden CO Paula Lorenzo's resignation.
* On a brighter note, many STF regulars (or is that IRregu-
lars?) have rejoiced at the return of that STF fixture,
Midyette's Place (in the OT). Owned & Reopened by none
other than Jim Midyette Himself, the Place is one of STF's
oldest bars and has been a steady rock in the OT since its
inception. Stop by for a Coke... but watch out for what
appear to be heightened tensions in the Cola Wars in that
area. Maybe we should all just order Snapple?
* CHAT! Who remembers that word? With School/Work rearing
its ugly head again, CHAT meets will soon become much har-
der to schedule... All STFers within the sound of my
voice, congregate at "STF CHAT!" here in the Games BB to
discuss our next Meet. Be there, or be left out!
>> Don't forget to have a nice day.

was published today, and yesterday, by Mike "Okay, you can
go back to RPGing now" Ballway. While Mike does have opin-
ions, he's keeping them secret until the end of the Democ-
ratic Convention, so the ones herein are not necessarily
his, or even Bill Clinton's. SNN UPDATE, while refusing to
cover the DNC (or RNC for that matter) still shares with
the Networks the Journalistic Motto of "Quick, Informative,
Totally Biased Reporting of STF Events." If you have a
complaint, take it to Nightline. We don't care. No,
seriously: Complaints, comments, commendations, etc.
should be emailed to the Publisher: Mike "bwsc65c" Ballway
