=/\= SNN UPDATE =/\=
=/\= Stardate 97020.2 =/\=

It's still election time here in STF, what with me having left y'all still searching for results in the last issue (yesterday. This makes our third SNN doubleheader. Third time's the charm, eh?). Our promise: No Brian Misamore references this time around. Our other promise: We will have the election results in this issue! We are not going to do three issues in a row -- you know what they say about three on a match!

=/\= NEWS

  •    Away from STF, Lucasfilm and Fox have released the first of the 'Special Edition' Star Wars films, "A New Hope." We were (okay, I was) at the opening night showing at our local theater. Yes, the plot is the same, but the added effects -- a much sharper picture, revamped laser bolts (they look like lasers this time around, not just nebulous streams of red or green), and a 'few new surprises' -- plus the novelty of seeing it on a big screen, in letterbox, make it worth seeing. The Chicago Tribune, known as being the final authority on everything (<g>), gave it four stars. We give it five. Even Kempec of IKE making a surprise cameo as Biggs Darklighter couldn't make it bad. It's that good.
  •    In totally nonrelated news, there is a CHAT meet going on at 2pm Eastern. If you're a travelin' guy like Jim "The Big Ego" Midyette or simply a resident of the western 3/4 of the nation, it breaks down like this: 1p Central; Noon Mountain; 11a Pacific, and so on. I don't have my list so I won't be able to give you times for Timbucktu and New Delhi. So shoot me. Place and password (almost forgot) are as yet undisclosed. Check "STF CHAT MEET" this morning to see if Aaron Holland -- the STF member organizing things at this end (as opposed to the organizer for STC, the club we are joint-chatting with) -- has posted them. If he hasn't, send Email to him or (if you log in after 2p ET) send an IM to him. If you don't know his NN, don't despair -- I suppose you can email me, at "Cray Z." BE THERE! Don't bail out on us like Mike Cathcart did!

    =/\= ELECTION RESULTS
  •    As you all know (or should know) the STF Presidential Election was a contest between incumbent Randy E. "At least the Packers won" McCullick and Greg "Our platform is quite simple" Hertzsch. The VP race was between challenger Owen "I'd like to thank . . . Abed A-Abbs" Townes and Nick "Mike, change my vote to Hertzsch/Townes" Oven. Voting was conducted via Email to my account. After a few snafus (okay, QUITE a few snafus) I finally closed voting on 31 January and here are the results of the voting: this reflects Nick's vote change. In any event, it is clear that Greg and Owen are our new commanders in chief . . . the official swearing in will happen, to paraphrase our new Veep, "whenever they bloody h*ll want to" do it. I have absolutely no idea who the Chief Justice of STF is. Probably Jerry "~Z~" Phelps.

    =/\= SNN UPDATE
was published today, and yesterday, by Mike "I didn't say B---- M------- again, did I?" Ballway, who would like to remind each of you that he stuck to his second promise of delivering the results this issue, also. Send all letters and questions about the "three on a match" comment to the Publisher. We follow the Journalistic Motto of "Quick, Informative, Totally Biased Reporting of STF Events." The opinions expressed herein are not necessarily those of Mike or STF or SNN. Until the next issue, have a nice . . . ummm . . . fairly long time interval.
