=/\= SNN UPDATE #40 =/\=
=/\= Stardate 97071.2 =/\=
Hello, STF! We here at SNN Center had a fun Independance Day -- hope you did too. Didja notice the changed header? That's right -- SNN UPDATE turned 40 today, forty issues of SNN over the years. Today's SNN UPDATE carries the BB-K7 rating: That's right, we're fit for viewing on all major Starbases, including those stocking quadrotriticalie.
In any event, it's been a slow two weeks (where is everyone?) but we managed to scrounge up some news anyway. . . .
=/\= NEWS
The major discussion in the Engineering Department lately has revolved around the finalization of the Trafalgar-class Tactical Destroyer specifications authored by Mike "the obsessive grammarian" Ballway. Why the conversation on this vital issue includes (OK, totally consists of) the presentation of the 1997 Not Politically Correct award is beyond this author's comprehension -- but all Engineers (dying breed that ye are) are encouraged to read over the specs. "STF - ED TRAFALGAR."
In totally nonrelated news, the Nick "My sense of humore goes completely outta wack" Oven-Phil "Nick has no clue about what he is talking about" Bishop feud has reached epic proportions as the two Victorious ("Trinitorious") crewmates compete in insults. It's definitely a match to watch -- almost as good as Tyson-Holyfield. Then again, maybe you'd like to avoid it -- too late, it's everywhere. Watch out, this Odd Couple is taking over.
In an even less related topic, Internet Director Nick "I can laught at whoever I want" Oven has completed a working version of the STF Website at "http://star-fleet.com/" and hopes to have the Web Colony operational soon; The Colony's look is being discussed in "STF - INTERNET DEPT." right now. Mike "I watch too much Dragnet" Ballway has suggested an alternate to WC, the current abbreviation: WeBB, for Web BB. In any case, visit the site, which includes a Fleet One homepage and a guestbook to boot. More pages will go operational when Ballway gets his site up -- including a complete SNN archive.
STF President Greg "STF President Greg Hertzsch" Hertzsch is hosting a spirited discussion on Star Trek in his PREZ ADDRESS subject. Mark "I'd like to harass Walter Koenig for a moment" Wilson, the recent convert from STNG, has taken a leading role in that conversation, which ranges from percieved snobbishness in certain Trek actors to the relationship between Q and Trelane to insiders' leaks on the newest Star Trek movie. Many of the STF regulars are there already . . . perhaps you should be too.
STF Vice-President Owen "Who told you I was paranoid??!!" Townes, in a recent thread in STF - SUGGESTION, invoked once again the Thought Police myth. The Air Force was quick to deny any T.P. activity in STF, and Mr. Townes has yet to produce any proof other than blurred photographs and backcountry hicks' testimony as to the existence of any such organization. Really, Owen!
In a story somewhat related to one above, star-fleet.com, STF's website, is offering space for members' homepages. Contact Nick "dvak86e" Oven for more information.
