Welcome back once again to SNN Center here in Chicago where we're always glad to come back from hiatus and report the latest news events. And we're darned if it ain't a good news day, er, news two months.

STF President Greg "Phil's Interpreter" Hertzsch has written a new speech in [STF - PREZ ADDRESS], in which elections are mentioned as well as the current plan to move Fleet Two to the WeBB in June or July. Greg also mentioned the upcoming reopening of the STF Academy, scheduled for 1 June, guaranteed by 12 June. Phil "I Was a Member of Hertzsch's Cabinet and All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt" Bishop is the current ACmdt.
In the WeBB, there has been a security breach (which resulted in RPG confusion and is being investigated now), and a fleet-wide RPG for F3. The two events are not thought to be related at this time.
The Prez also reports that the AA and Vicky both have operational RPGs, leaving the Aurora as the only crew that won't play nice. The Vicky's RPG concentrates around the so-called "Commander Sinclair," who replaces Owen "Stop harrassing me about the Thought Police! . . . or are you one of them?" Townes as XO. The man responsible for this completely original name coinage is Vicky GM and STF President Greg "This just as original as 'Klinton'" Hertzsch. Strangely enough, the supposedly-active Ark Angel RPG is pretty silent lately, except for Greg's posts, despite the fact that the famous Hertzsch Nomenclature Genius has struck there, also, naming a planet "Elbonia." Be afraid, be very afraid!
The aforementioned Veep, Owen "Special K" Townes, has reincarnated Fleet Zero as a "Pre-Kowalewski-Plan" playground. The idea behind this OOC area is real roleplaying using one-man ships, as was done in STF before 1992. So far, Seamus "Terra Nova" Hughes and Paula "Forge" Kirk, both WeBB veterans, plus Mike "USS Chernobyl" Ballway, have signed up for play. See [STF0 **FLEET HQ].
STF's Summer Election 1998 has been declared open by Election Coordinator Mike "Let's see if he can still write" Ballway. They are a month behind schedule, but hey, what else is new? Check out [STF - ELECT-A-PREZ] for the complete story. Quick summary: The email address to contact with questions is "stf98@juno.com." Prospective candidates must be nominated by another member by 15 June, when voting begins. Campaigning starts on 8 June, and the whole thing ends on 29 June at midnight.
CHAT! STF President Greg "I do too much around here!" Hertzsch has taken up again the mantle of CHAT Manager and has scheduled a meet for 8pm CDT on Monday, 1 June. The topic is Sci-Fi & Fantasy Member Rooms, the room is "STF Meet," the password is "sisko," and the black crow flies east at midnight.

Was published waaaay behind schedule by Commodore Mike "What does he do with the time?" Ballway and ZMP Limited. SNN UPDATE subscribes to the Journalistic Motto of "Quick, Informative, Totally Biased Reporting of STF Events" and is supposed to be published biweekly. Look for a new SNN UPDATE in your ANNOUNCE subs all the way up until we cease publication in July.
