Look, Boss, you stay quiet and you'll get a piece of the action. Hear me?
Welcome back once again to SNN Center in the North Side Territory of Chicago, where alls we wants is to bring the whole planet together . . . with our boys.
Well, we've had almost no news in the last three weeks, but nonetheless, here's The Book on STF happenings. . . .
=/\= THE DAILY, ER, SEMIMONTHLY NEWS
That funny smell isn't a hit at the stockyards. That's right, it's election season once again here in STF, with ballot boxes currently open and staying so until six days from now. Your candidates, ladies and gentlemen, are:
- STF President Greg "What's your beef, Feds?" Hertzsch and Veep candidate B.J. "Mr. Personnel" Phillips, running on the Prez's record and an emphasis on quality RPing on the Prodigy branch;
- Mike "Boss Kavox" Bourdaa, FComm-3, and R.E. "Being from Wisconsin, I know a lot about heaters" McCullick, emphasizing the need for more fun in STF and less politicking. R.E. is the former President of STF.
- Mark "I'm puttin' the bag on those AWOLs" Loganbach and Bill "GMs especially need The Book" Gunty, two junior WeBB officers running on a platform of increased activity and a better GM system.
The Office of the Election Coordinator reminds all STFers that anyone can vote by emailing his choice to [stf98@juno.com]. Voting closes on the midnight of 28/29 June 1998, Central Time.
In other election news, the Fleetwide OOC Area on the WeBB has burst into activity with various candidates and supporters duking it out in the campaign HQs. So far, the discussion has been surprisingly academic and nonvindictive in nature, given that this is STF politics. In STF*P O.T., both the Hertzsch/Phillips and Bourdaa/McCullick people have set up HQs, but these areas are vastly inferior to their WeBB counterparts.
The first-ever STF Presidential Debate went off with few glitches on Friday night, 12 June 1998. The debate took place on IRC and included statements from every candidate now running. A transcript is available at [s-f.c/members/packrat/] from Larry "the Liquidator" Garfield's archive.
Also on STF*P, Owen "Bolshevik Mobs of the Twenties" Townes continues his unprecedented takeover of Fleet Zero, formerly stomping grounds of the USS Snapple, then the Jello Wars, and lately existing only for the ridicule of SNN. Actually, it is Paula "Must . . . capitalize . . . ranks" Kirk who is the sole RPer on the FZ RPG, since Seamus "Terra Nova" Hughes has quit. Rumors that Mike "Oxmyx . . . well, we're both from Chicago" Ballway will enter the RPG are so far unsubstantiated.
That's right, you didn't ask for it: Last Year's News, Today! SNN UPDATE reports from late June 1997:
- The Connie and Trinitron had recently been decommed;
- Mark "I want a piece of the inaction" Wilson, currently AWOL, was a new member (!).
=/\= SNN UPDATE #57
has risen through the ranks of the Bela Oxymx gang only to find that it is really more disposed toward Jojo Krako. In any event, the point is all moot now that the Feds are coming in and enforcing the Journalistic Motto of "Quick, Informative, Totally Biased Reporting of STF Events," not to mention dropping books and communicators hither and yon. SNN may hit you with its flivver, mostly because its talents as a news network are many, yet as a taxi driver, few, but will always have a place in its heart for the complaints and comments you send us, emailed to
