She was the first new ship to be commissioned in the fleet, and has spent her entire tour under the command of Larry Garfield. First with his William Bligh and former CO of the HMS Bounty character and more recently Captain Stoek.
The Alliance was originally a Nimitz classed dreadnaught. In June 1998, she underwent a conversion to an Aurora classed cruiser at the same time she joined the newly created Fleet 5. She moved back not long after, as Larry was given the AFComm-4 slot.
Along the way, the Alliance became known as the "Quotable ship" after defeating former rival USS Ares, by having more pointless quotes on its MOTD
In September 1999, the Alliance underwent another upgrade, this time into an Andromeda classed vessel, before being converted again in July 2002 to a Viking classed ship.
