The Asimov is the fleet's youngest ship, after only being commisioned in November 1998 as a Darwin classed science vessel, under the command of Captain Andrew Zbikowski.
In January 2000 Brady McGuinn took over the role as her commanding officer, before being replaced with Emma Rouse-Deane in March 2000.
Emma Rouse-Deane served as the Asimov Captain until April 2007 when Brady McGuinn again assumed command.
In December 2000, the Asimov was upgraded to a Discovery class.
