Fleet News and Briefs

Yes, I admit it, Fleet Four finally missed a Fleet Report. I figure after the blockbuster End Of Term report, you folks needed a break, right? Er, anyway...

It's been a very eventful two months! One reason for the delay of this report is because I wanted to get the staff squared away before sending it in. Two key people in the fleet have resigned, Krystelle Bromilow and long-time AFComm-4 Paul Jones. We all miss them both, especially the Columbus which has had a change of CO and XO in the past month.

When the dust settled, I am happy to announce that Philip Hobday has stepped up as CO of Starbase 202, and Ralf Steen has now assumed command of the Columbus. Linus Lindblad is also the new Columbus XO. In other news, there is a new AFComm-4 as well. This one was very hard for me to call. I really hated having to pick just one. In the end, though, I am pleased to announce that Asimov CO Emma Rouse-Deane has been appointed #2 of STF4. (Is that a proper Borg designation?) Comgratulations, Emma. Now go write me a report.

Because some of these changes happened at weird times, the report below was submitted before Paul resigned, so portions of it are written by him and not by the new staff. I have noted differences where applicable.

USS Alliance

CO: Larry Garfield
XO: Ralf Steen
GM: Deanne Ashton

RPG Update:
It turns out the colony is more than just a colony, it's the site of a second Guardian of Forever. We were able to stop a trio of hired thugs from going through it to change history, but were not able to stop the Guardian itself from sucking in an NE and now possessing our XO. Fun stuff.

Activity Level:
Nice and steady, as usual. While the Alliance isn't the fastest ship in STF, she has to be the one that is staffed with the most stable posters.

Crew:
There haven't been any major shiftings in the crew for some time now, so everybody knows where we stand with each other. Crew interaction is, from my point of view, improving steadily. If we could keep Kevin Pu, Hubert Bonis and James Garfield from their sometimes a bit erratic posting schedule, interaction could be further improved.

General:
We had a brief misunderstanding with our (excellent) GM Deanne Ashton this month, but that was sorted out quite nicely.

CO Report:
For the most part things are moving along nicely. The mission took a rather large turn all of a sudden with the Guardian of Forever, and has now taken a hairpin turn with the realization that the Guardian itself is hypnotizing the XO. The GM is female, the XO (Character) is female, and the Guardian is apparently female. The Estrogen is thick in the air. :-) We don't mind, however. I don't know where things are going from here, but they are bound to get weirder.

USS Asimov

CO: Emma Rouse-Deane
XO: Taliyah Campbell
GM: Larry Garfield

RPG Update:
The Force Generator is apparently a left over from the Rolchana and the Crag War, salvaged by the last surviving Overlord, who calls himself Anakin, although while working with the Seetha rebels on Maul took on the title Darth Vader. LucasFilm has already filed suit. They managed to escape, and the Force Generator has been destroyed, and Anakin and Darth Sidious have been slingshotted to who knows where.

Activity Level:
With the exception of myself, who has been out for about a week with the flu, the activity level seems to be quite high considering there has been alot of turnover in players recently. We have had a few AWOLs but most of those were unfortunately new members who never posted and never emailed me back after I sent them my welcome letter.

Crew:
Right now with the sim the crew has been working mainly together rather than in individual departments and fairing quite well with the lines being blured. However that being said our medical department I believe needs another officer to help even things out a little. Mackie has taken over temporarily as CMO as our CMO had to declare an ELOA until she can get through the bulk of her required grade twelve courses.

CO Report:
Well, it's been a good month, we're still in one piece, but we still ain't any closer to getting the Force Generator, despite 2 tries already, but I'm sure we WILL do it this time :) We've seen a few guest appearances by Darth Vader, and other Starwarsians, but the moment Jar Jar turns up, I'll.. we'll I'm not sure what I will do..yet ;)

Posting overall varies, but the quality of the posts are good.

Let's see, security, apart from starting a fight with some Seetha, shooting at an opening door and scaring off Captain Benson, the department is going well, oh, did I mention endangerment of the away team? The away team managed to make it back, nearly in one piece. We've lost a few members in the department again, for some reason they don't like staying long, but I am optimistic for our new recruits... hehe. Ryan is doing a great job, he had some big shoes to fill after Izzy left, but is more than capable in the role.

With Rue on LOA for a while, Mackie is currently in charge of sickaby, (God help us :) ) Although I question his characters sanity, I'm sure he makes a great medic. The away team is currently being treated for wounds sustained over on the Maul vessel. Note to Mack: no brain swapping, 'k?

Well apart from some bodily leakage, the science department is well, their warp probe thingy (yes, it's a technical term) worked as expected, (really guys, I never doubted you :) ) and we have a new addition in the form of David Wonderly.

I think engineering have finally fixed the damage to the Asimov, (No Larry, that isn't a hint for some more, honest :) ) so things are on the quiet side.

Overall ship and crew are in good shape, baring any injuries of course. Well, that's another month done.. nearly XMas.. yay! :)

AFComm Report: (By Paul Jones)
The Asimov has reamined relatively stagnant recently, compared to the other two ships....which isn't a bad thing. The crew has hardly changed, and the interaction between crew members remains just as strong. However, the sim seems to have slowed significantly recently, and many SO's are posting infrequently. As there has been no major departures, I assume this is probably due to a temporary slowing in the sim. This probably will not last for long....though then again it could be the beginning of the same decline which has inflicted the Columbus. Lets hope not. Only time will tell......

USS Columbus

CO: Ralf Steen
XO: Linus Lindblad
GM: Larry Garfield

RPG Update:
The Columbus has been sitting in orbit around a planet as 'converted' members of the crew desperatly tries to coordinate themselves and fulfill the misson given to them by the leader of the Malencar Sect.

Activity Level:
Posting could be better, as the columbus has suffered a significant drop of senior staff members that I last saw back when the Indy I blew up. So far we've lost a CO, an XO, the CSO, the CE, the CNS, and the COS. When the new staff settle into their roles aboard the ship I have no doubt the columbus would return to its original pace of posting. Whatever now that is ;)

Crew:
Most of the senior staff has been replaced, thankfully. We've lost many good and old RPers this last month, and its not really fun. In any case, I welcome Ralf, Claudette, Jennifer, Tiana, and Michael. The departments seem to work well, the Medical department gaze at the wonders of a cardboard clipout, the Engineering department dosen't exist (!!!), the science department is showing some skinn (Good going David!) And the security department lurks in the shadows.

General:
Well, we aren't dead yet ;)

CO Report: (By Paul Jones)
Well, the Columbus was slowly getting back to its high standard. Then something went wrong. within a couple of weeks, the ship lost its XO, and all its senior officers, bar one. Linus has taken over the role of the XO, and is doing an excellent job, but the ship is the worst its been. Larry has tried to pick up the pace of Jeff's sim, but the crew were just too bored, and most left reluctantly. Something needs to be done, and fast. I am taking the opportunity to enlist some really strong RPers to replace the missing SO's. Operation: Resurrection officially began in earnest last week, but only time will tell its effectiveness. Won't somebody please throw us a life-line?!?! :)

USS Montgomery

CO: Jeff Field
XO: Philip Hobday
GM: Chris Ashley

RPG Update:
The Monty has concluded the wedding of Cmdrs Kianna and Drake (Jenn Schubert and Stuart Coll). We have been despatched to Risa, which is providing the Engineering division with a slight problem over Horgon provision, which we trust will be resolved soon :-)

Activity Level:
Stuff happened.Pretty fast, remaining consistent - crewmembers are rarely in danger of AWOL and are generally conscientious about regular posting.

Crew:
Everyone is performing to standard, with a particular mention to Jaret Hargreaves (Lt-Cmdr James Hargreaves, xCMO), whose "farewell" has been a superb piece of RP, and Chris Taylor (Ens Chris Taylor, Sec), who has found his feet remarkably quickly.

General:
The Monty remains one of the finest crews in STF, and they are a pleasure to serve with - there is character, pace and a zest for RP. A stunning place to serve!

CO Report:
We've just started a new mission, the crew seems like they will enjoy it. For the most part, posting rates are pretty good, with the exception of a couple officers who I have talked to.

Evan Casey is doing well, I'd like to talk to him about taking up a Chief post at some point in the future, or at least getting a character of some sort on another ship.

Kristina Humphreys has rejoined the ship as CNS. Officially she is the "Captain Advisor" because the whole point of the Monty if to be nuts.

On a personal note, my posting rate is up substantially to 1-2 times a day now. woohoo :) (except this past weekend, no computer)

FComm Report:
The Monty finally has a GM again, for the first time since Colin Wyers ill-fated Anime mission. Activity picked up quickly once something was actually happening again, and things are lookig up. Even Jeff is posting, amazingly. The GM went missing for a little while due to RL commitments, but has now returned and we are moving forward.

Starbase 202

CO: Philip Hobday
XO: David Yim
GM: Larry Garfield

RPG Update:
Our situation has gone form bad to worse than devil's nightmare. Our CO, Alorias Sehlan and PLO, Warwick Chirpa has been killed and kidnapped respectively. Also, the terrosists have threatened to destroy the station if we don't release a suspect we have caught.

Activity Level:
Our activity level has dropped a bit as a result of the beginning of a new semester. However, I believe that things are under control.

Crew:
The conflict and misunderstanding among the crew has been elimated and all the crew cooperated with each other well. The COO, Michael Seiler continue to impress me with his lengthy, detailed posts as usual. However, our BSO, Kevin Pu needs some guidence on the sim.

General:
The station is in average condition though we can do better once all the LOA members return.

CO Report:
I have arrived aboard only very briefly in this, my first command, due to the departure of the previous BCO and an increasingly volatile IC terrorist assault.

This is clearly a new experience, and I have not had real time to get to know the crew - I shall do that after the sim is ended! For the meantime, we are working very hard trying to rid the base of the terrorists who have murdered the previous Captain and captured Lt Cmdr Chirpa. Once that's done, we'll have a big admin/roster clear-out, and sort out where we're going next, and have a big party, Phil-style...

I am too new to make any detailed analysis, but from what I have seen, this will be a very good place to RP with a potentially very strong crew.

AFComm Report: (By Paul Jones)
The Starbase has been shaken by the Kry's departure recently, and obviously she will be missed. However, Philip has done a great job of stepping into her shoes, and is keeping the ship running smoothly. The crew seem to have adapted well to him. Posting is still quite high, despite the changes, and the SB seems to be coping very well. This is obviously due in part to Phil's abilities. All in all, the SB202 is pretty much the same as last time- which isn't bad at all :)

Crell

Active Members: Larry Garfield, Deanne Ashton, Edison Uy

Status:
A new member has joined the Crell family, but is having a hard time getting into the swing of things. It's more a chicken and egg question than anything. The Garfield/Ashton plotline plods along as always. I'm in the process of recruiting some new people, and another person has expressed some interested in coming aboard. Hopefully we will have a larger roster by this time next month.
