Fleet News and Briefs

Hi, everybody! For the new year, we're doing things a bit differently. I decided to let people off the hook, so only Emma and I did reports. Well, except for those people who went ahead and sent in reports anyway, without being told to. Congratulations to them!

Things have been quiet this past month. A large portion of the fleet is on LOA for the holidays, which has slowed things down, but everyone else is still chugging along. The fleetwide is slowly moving along, as most things to date are foreshadowing, especially a mysterious explosion from somewhere within Seetha space, apparently Zeta Epsilon VII, Alderaan. I leave the rest of it up to your deranged imagination. :-)

USS Alliance

CO: Larry Garfield
XO: Peter Hull
GM: Chris Ashley

FComm Report:
The Alliance has been quiet this month so far, as the beginnings of our next mission are actually playing out on Starbase 202. Several crew members have gone over to the station and are posting there. Ralf Steen stepped down at the end of the last mission as XO, so as to not hog command positions. Peter Hull has moved up as new XO, and is doing well so far. At the moment, he and the CMO are debating ways to give the CO a physical without him knowing it, as the CO instructed the XO to "distract" the CMO so that he forgot about the physical. I sense whips cracking already. Meanwhile, the new CSO is Scott Jordan, playing Fletcher Christian (no relation). This could get messy.

AFComm Report:
The Alliance has been docked at SB202, where it has been enjoying it's much needed R and R. The crew have been partaking in character development, lightsaber building, and finding ways to give the CO a medical without him knowing he's having one.

There's been a few personnel changes, posting has remained consistent, even with some of the crew taking shoreleave on the station itself. The ship is in great shape, the quality of the posts are excellent, and detailed, and the crew seem to get on extremely well.

USS Asimov

CO: Emma Rouse-Deane
XO: Taliyah Campbell
GM: Larry Garfield

FComm Report:
The Asimov has surpassed the Montgomery's status last year as "The Love Boat", with the number of single crewmen/women dropping quickly. If anyone is looking for a single's bar, go elsewhere. The crew also seems to have a love affair with flashbacks, which so far have worked well. Despite being between missions for nearly 6 weeks, the ship has done very well for itself, and has remained one of the most active ships in the fleet. It has finally been assigned to the Seetha border again, where it just picked up word of an explosion on the Sith mining and construction colony on Zeta Epsilon VII, Alderaan. The whole scene looked a great deal like Star Trek VI. Don't expect the rest of the plot to be. :-)

AFComm Report:
The pace has dropped off slightly over the holiday season, but that is to be expected. In the course of a month, we've had 2 weddings, with 2 more on the way, well our CSO is getting married twice, don't ask. Now all we need is a funeral, and we have our own verions of 4 weddings and a funeral :) ; a new ship, and eaten no end of chocolate cake :) We've been enjoying time to develop our characters, and generally just been doing what we want, and having fun.

We're just settling in aboard the Asimov-A a brand new, sweet smelling Discovery class starship, and a wave of bubblewrap popping addiction has swept the ship, but will no doubt be cured before we end up back at the Seetha border, to resume our patrol duties. If all else fails we can beam some of the stuff over to whatever ships we encounter, as part of a cunning distraction, anyways..

The curse of the security officers seems to be finally over, we have managed to hang onto the two we have for over a month now..woohoo! Nicole Talkington and Phil Morral are two great additions to the ship, and we didn't have to tie them to the warp core, looks like I will lose my chocolate cake bet now, but it was in a good cause :)

The Asimov is fortunate to be gifted with a crew of excellent posters, the standard of the posts are extremely high, and are a great pleasure to read, and everyone is participating, well unless they are enjoying the holidays. Overall the Asimov is still in fine shape, although maybe a little bloated.

USS Columbus

CO: Ralf Steen
XO: Linus Lindblad
GM: Larry Garfield

Activity Level:
Things are progressing quite nicely, the impending rumors that the sim is about to end has everyone putting some extra effort in their posting. Lets hope the rumors are true this time.

Crew:
Most department are depending on aDHs, planning are made to remedy the problem once the sim is working. A lot of Monty crewmembers are posting on the ship but everyone seems to be able to figure it out.

General:
Despite the fact that our christmas bonus failed to come in this month, we still go on. :)

CO Report:
December has been a very rough month for me. For different reasons, I continued to stay away from STF throughout the whole month more or less and have only very recently been able to return (i.e. yesterday :-)). On returning I found that my worries about the state I would find my ship in weren't warranted at all: The crew has done exceptionally well without me (do they need me at all? :-). The separated Columbus stardrive with the controlled senior officers on it has run off with the Malencar ship and is currently transferring power to that crippled vessel, to keep the mind-controlling force generator running. The Montgomery has rendezvoused with the Coulmbus saucer section, Fleet Captain Jeff Field has removed the computer lockout Captain Elxh had initialized and has taken command of the Columbus himself (what's he doing in my chair? Get out of there, Jeff!), making the angry Klingon Kor'Esh the aXO. The wisdom of that decision may be doubted :-).

As I've said before, the Columbus crew has done exceptionally well this month, with an absent CO and a sim that is not easy to get along with. First and foremost Emma Rouse-Deane's portrayal of Kor'Esh, the very male and very angry Klingon should be mentioned. Of course we all know Emma's superior roleplaying, but Kor'Esh is special even for her high standard. Linus Lindblad has done a good job in assuming the OOC responsibilities during my absence and has kept the ship together. The explicit mentioning of those two should not put a slight on the performance of all other crewmembers, i.e. Sinéad Doyle, David Goldsberry, Kyle Green, Scott Jordan, Kelly Byers, Nikolle Burchett and Fred Forsythe. Mike Smith had started very well in November, but has gone AWOL before X-mas. He has asked to return though and hopefully will continue like before. The Columbus laments the loss of Mackael Stockhausen, who has resigned from his position as CMO. Kyle Green is filling in for him as aCMO, which leaves the ship running with aCOS, aCMO and aCSO, without an opportunity to change the situation IC. Will this sim ever end? :-) Also, Jeff Field and Kenson Koh have joined the crew as CTO or CNS respectively. I'm sure they will be an asset to the crew. The future looks bright. Happy New Year to all of you!

FComm Report:
One sign of a good ship is when the crew manages to make do without its CO. Well, this month the JO staff of the Columbus managed to survive without any of the senior staff IC, and without most of it OOC. That speaks very well of them indeed. The four Controllered crew members (CO, XO, CMO, CE) have taken off for parts unknown, and then most of them went silent for most of the month. Ralf, Linus, and Sinead are slowly making a comeback, but Mackie has unfortunately had to permanently step down as CMO. He will be missed, especially since he accounted for a quarter of my evil conspiracy. The JO staff, meanwhile, was without a computer, leader, purpose, or anything else, and still managed to stay active and interesting. With the arrival of the Montgomery, they have the first two back, and are working on the third. Posting has shot up this past week, and I predict it going up farther in the near future.

Oh, and Linus, your bonus is under your chair on the bridge on the saucer. Ralf, the mision will end sometime next millennium. ;-)

AFComm Report:
The Columbus is rife with paranoia, violence, and one very upset Klingon. With still no idea where the senior staff have jetted off to, the Junior officers are still trying to figure things out without the use of the main computer, which had been conveniently locked out, whoever invented command codes needs shooting ;)

With some hot wiring they managed to open the shuttlebay doors to be greeted with the sight of the Montgomery, although not everyone on the Columbus is happy to see them. With the assistance of Fleet Captain Field the computer is now working, and with a little bit of crew co-operation, if such a thing is possible, considering the circumstances, they might be able to get to the bottom of all this, and still get home for supper. That is unless they shoot, maul and hurt each other, which is another possibility. Although the first casualty is Mackael Stockhausen who's had to depart the ship due to RL time problems, you'll be missed Doc.

The Columbus is doing well, posting is high, even though for a short period only the crew on the Saucer section were the only ones alive, or seemed to be. With the arrival of 2 new crewmembers, hopefully will inject some more life into the ship, not that it needs it. The Columbus was hit with the holiday season with a drop in posting, but that should be recitified once everyone leaves the christmas pudding alone.

USS Montgomery

CO: Jeff Field
XO: Philip Hobday
GM: Colin Wyers

FComm Report:
Slow and steady is the report from the Monty this month. Like everyone else posting has slowed, but the ship plugs along, even with several people on the Columbus. The loss of Stuart Coll is a large one for the ship, especially after the departure of Jaret Hargreaves earlier in the year. Both will be sorely missed, as they were part of the Monty's infamous romantic triangle. :-) I'm hoping that recently returned Shalon Hurlbert, who has taken up COS in Stu's stead, will be able to keep Jenn Schubert interested enough to stick around now. Meanwhile, an old cousin in the Montgomery family that we had hoped to forget has returned, by the name of Colin Wyers. We've managed to keep him away from any sharp objects so far.

AFComm Report:
With a very brief stop off at Deep Space 20, to pick up supplies, and 2 passengers heading for the Columbus, the Montgomery has located what is left of the Columbus, it's saucer section. During the journey there, they have had time to get some rest and relax, and watch the latest installment of the SNN news broadcast.. (that thing got everywhere :) )

With an away team led by Fleet Captain Field to the Columbus, they are now assisting to get the main computer operational, and help solve the mystery of it's missing senior staff, and missing stardrive section.

Posting has steadily increased over the month, but like everywhere else, the holidays have taken something out of it's momentum. The quality is good, the crew interaction is interesting, all this and some of the crew is even on the Columbus :)

Mid way through the month they said goodbye to Stuart Coll, who will be missed, but an old acquanintance has returned to fill the gap, Stu's departure has left, welcome back Shalon :)

Starbase 202

CO: Philip Hobday
XO: David Yim
GM: Larry Garfield

Activity Level:
The posting rate and amount of post has dropped quickly due to the Christmas holiday. However, the posting rate will rise back to its original high after the holiday without doubt.

Crew:
After a few months of trial and error, the new command officers (BCO&BXO) has adapted to their new job finally and the station is in fine hands now. Moreover, the crew has been united through last action- packed sim. Camaraderie has formed among us.

General:
As the BXO, I am happy and honored to serve on this station. This is the best place that I can think of.Good crew, experienced GM, what can one ask for more? ^_^

FComm Report:
Like most of the fleet, the station has been between major missions for a while, but has managed to keep active. The night life has gotten better with the party on the Promenade called by the BCO. The Alliance crew has joined in as well. Meanwhile, various and sundry mysterious parties have begun to arrive on the station. Lars Ono, a freelance trader and captain of the SS Falcon, dropped off two individuals in brown robes. One is apparently named Obi-Enne, the other is short and talks backwards. Ono was then attacked in the bar by a green and spiky fellow named Greedo. LucasFilm was next to arrive, and filed suit against Fleet Command for copyright violation. And the plot thickens.

AFComm Report:
The Starbase has been enjoying the end of mission party, and has had a few visitors from the Alliance pop over and say hi. The BCO has officially been sworn in to his position, and then found time to take a trip to Risa, (alright for some ). There's been a bit of a disturbance on the promenade, which involves a newly arrived Trader and a bounty hunter named Greedo, which resulted in a quick fire round from a phaser, which is currently being investigated, and dealt with. Some more notorious figures are slinking their way around the starbase talking of Force Generators and the Rolchana . Any resemblence to Yoda I'm sure is purely coincidental :)

The Starbase, like the Columbus has obtained a few more crewmembers, and although they have only been onboard a short time, kudos has to go to James Garfield (no, not that one :) ) and Ryan Reeder for some great posts.

Posting has been consistent, if not a bit on the slowish side, again most of the blame can be put on the shoulders of the holiday season, but no doubt once the feasting, and partying is over, business will resume as usual. The starbase is definitely improving, posts are more detailed and no doubt this is only the first steps in what is to come.

Active Members: Larry Garfield, Deanne Ashton, Emma Rouse-Deane, Ralf Steen

Status:
Ralf has been out for a while for the same reasons as he was out elsewhere, and Deanne is on leave for the holidays, so things are pretty slow. I am once again looking to recruit a few new faces. For those who are there, however, things are going well..

DH Recommendations

None at this time.
