Welcome again to another copyright-infringing episode of Fleet Four Fleet Beat. The fleetwide plods along, with progress being made to varying degrees on different ships. As always, syncing ships is the killer. With the Columbus out of the main plot for now, moral there has improved dramatically. The Alliance is now the most-behind ship, but now that its GM is out of school that should improve soon. The slowest ship is the Montgomery. See more below. If all goes well, we should see everything come to a head sometime in mid to late July. (Yeah, yeah, famous last words and all of that...)
The intruders on Starbase 202 from the freighter Otana managed to escape from our intrepid heros by blowing a hole in the jeffries tube hatch. They are now loose on the station, and have so far managed to kill or injur several NEs and a few real people, while sneaking back to, well, I won't tell you where they're going. :-) Meanwhile, the arriving Council members have beamed aboard the station and joined BCO Temple in his office. Ouija is with them. So far they have not offered any new information, but are very inquisitive about the Rolchana and the Palpitine.
The Asimov has tracked the giant Palpitine vessel to the Mu Iota system, where it is engaged in a firefight with unknown assailants. Given that it is several orders of magnitude larger than they are, it is a rather one-sided battle. The Palpitine vessel is big, triangular, grey, wider than it is flat and even longer, you get the idea. The Asimov is moving in to try and pick up survivors, in the hopes that they will have some answers before they get totally blown away.
The Columbus has finally reached Outpost 44, a small rest station and 7-11 on the Federation border. Repairs are under way, but will be slow going.
The Montgomery has been delayed by a rogue ensign who assaulted the COS and smashed a hole in a bulkhead with his own bulky head. It has finally managed to make it to the Mu Gamma system, however, where it has found a considerably sized outpost, a trading center of some sort. Belka, the captured Palptine from the Malencar Sect, has identified it as a major Awaj trading center, and the home of the Awaj who sold the Force Generators to the Malencar sect in the first place.
The Alliance managed to avoid being eaten by the space slug from hell by feeding it spicy warp plasma with extra tomalies. While it did manage to get the slug off of the nacelle that it had been chewing on, it also appears to have given it very severe heart-burn. The crew is debating what to do about it (kill it! kill it!), while the Falcon has slipped out of the slug's belly and is heading for the nearest system. Which, amazingly enough... is Hargh...
The crew on the whole are interacting well, we have been struck with a few LOA's here and there, more noticably Sherrie, who won't be gracing our fair decks till Sept, but Barry has more than made up for her absence with some very good posting... which included sending me to bed, or face the wrath of the CMO - and if you know our medical department, you know which option I chose :)
So with Sherrie out of the way, the quest began for a new XO - so I'm pleased to welcome Edison aboard in that capacity - he has no idea what he's let himself in for :) Posting is still a little on the low side compared to our usual standards, but now we are heading into a possible tense situation I have no doubt that will pick up once more.
All in all the Asimov ain't looking too bad!
General Health: The Columbus is settling down to a routine after the orgy of crew changes a few months ago. The Exec and DHs are all seasoned STF veterans, and posting well (and frequently, despite occasional absences forced by illness and computer failures). Younger crew members, unfortunately, have proven to be less reliable, and amongst them we have several AWOLs. They do seem, however, to be finding their feet. We really do need some extra Science and Medical personnel, and these seem rather thin on the ground.
Other than that, though, things are good. The party is certainly encouraging posting, and the savage beating Adrian Jordan (AKA Scott Jordan) received at the hands of Kor'Esh (Emma Rouse-Deane) has been entertaining for all!
There has been some very nice crew interaction - not all leading to physical injury, and after the hectic few months, the downtime is definitely deserved and being well used. All in all the ship is looking good, the crew are somewhat weary and bruised, so perhaps a trip to Risa is in order? :)
My plan to improve the ship is to post more often. Oddly enough, that is almost always my plan, I just need to get some time. I've been quite busy lately, mostly because besides a review writer, I am a professional procrastinator. I need to realize that if I postpone EVERYTHING to the end of the month, none of it gets done.
That is all, really. I never know what to say in these things.
I thank my crew for not eating me :)
Suggestions for the End of Fleetwide party, which I plan to organise regardless of Larry's feelings :-) should be addressed to me.
"I don't think they had Yuki in mind when they designed it."
