Fleet News and Briefs

As many have noted, we are rapidly approaching the Finale Fleetwide's Finale. I am now going to curse myself and say that I expect us to be in full swing with the final showdown by the time of the next report. (Now watch everyone AWOL on me, making that impossible.) Activity is steady on most ships, although key LOAs have slowed a few threads. Fortunately, for once they are not critical threads. So what has been happening with our friends the Palpitine and those mysterious brown-robed figures? Stay tuned...

RPG Update

The Columbus has been slowly undergoing repairs while the crew takes a long-awaited break. Unbeknownst to the crew but knownst to the GM, the repair teams at Outpost 44 are working overtime to try and get the ship back in shape quickly, as it is needed back on the front ASAP.

In all likelyhood, it will be needed to help stop the Palpitine planet-killing supership that destroyed Alderaan and now appears poised to wipe out the Mu Gamma system completely. The ship is any ED designer's wet dream, although the ability to destroy a planet is insignificant compared to the power of The Force. The Asimov rescued two survivors from one of the ships defending Mu Iota II, including Captain Duval of the Palpitine Fett sect. He claims that Vader and his supership demanded his sect's surrender and when they refused started blowing them to kingdom come. Vader, meanwhile, has moved his ship into position to target the Mu Iota star itself.

Not as far away as they would like to believe, the crew of the Montgomery, now under the temporary command of Commander Barret Vogtman who replaces the Ten Backward-whipped Jeff Field, have located what appears to be a major Awaj trading post. The beady-eyed Awaj who is taking orders appears to have the stature of a Crag, the clothing of a monk, and the attitude of a used shuttlecraft salesman. After trying unsuccessfully to get them to buy a set of repair droids (you won't find better repair droids in this sector), he hinted that he may have information about a previous client who purchased what could have been Force Generators. The crew is working on what to barter for information, as well as poking fun at how the new CO is outranked by half his senior staff, including CE Captain Murri Kep.

Meanwhile, in another stellar cluster, the Alliance has arrived at Hargh while tracking the SS Falcon and its too occupants, trader Lars Ono and renegade Alliance Yuki security officer Toobits. Trybnat, the head of the Yuki Adept Council, has reluctantly agreed to allow the Alliance to send down a security detail to continue the search, but lied to the Alliance about not knowing about the Falcon's presence in the middle of their spaceport. The away team has been ordered to be on their guard for anything.

The Coucil visiting Starbase 202 have finally come clean. They, and the Palpitine, originate in a galaxy far far away, wher millennia ago the Palpitine constructed the blasphemous Rolchana as part of an attempted coup against the Galactic Republic. The Council's order, a group of individuals from countless species with the power to tap into the cosmic Force, managed to defeat them but the Rolchana was lost through time and space. For a thousand generations they have been scouring the universe searching for it so that it could be destroyed, only to find the Federation had already done it but that here were the Palpitine again, raising fears of what has happened back home.

USS Alliance

CO: Larry Garfield
XO: Peter Hull
GM: Chris Ashley

CO Report:
We have finally left "The Empire Strikes Back" behind, and have moved on to "Return of the Yuki." Activity is on an upswing overall, I think, now that half the crew is heading planet-side on an away mission. Although, now I find myself with little for my character to do for the time being. I guess that's what I get for being an armchair captain. We have lost one of our doctors to RL, as Ryan Williams leaves the ship to make time for planning his wedding. Congratulations, Ryan!

USS Asimov

CO: Emma Rouse-Deane
XO: Edison Uy
GM: Larry Garfield

CO Report:
Th Asimov hasn't progressed a great deal during this month, although posting has still been strong in places. Activity has had it's highs and it's lows, but the majority of the time it is somewhere inbetween. There is a somewhat stand off with the Palpitine craft, and we have managed to rescue some survivors from a recent squirmish. Tamzin has been busy portraying her rather sexually active Bareesh character, who has just hit puberty and is going on a manhunt. Last month it was high testosterone levels, this month, it's high estrogene ones... I just hope we find a happy inbetween level of both :)

There is some rather interesting stuff going on in sickbay, which involved slapping patients, knives and phasers.. and that is supposed to be a place for the sick.. definitely a spot for the local tourist board to avoid like the plague, as well as certain captains! :)

The interaction with the crew is good, they all get on seemingly well, and the ship is made up a very good bunch of core characters, that make the ship what it is, wacky, but fun! We've had a couple of LOA's, but they, as usual, haven't hurt the ship too badly.

Edison is doing a great job in finding his feet, and is complimenting the skills of my CO character well, and is fitting in brilliantly with the rest of the crew.

All in all, we ain't looking too bad this month.

USS Columbus

CO: Johnathan Hughes
XO: Linus Lindblad
GM: Larry Garfield

CO Report:
I still haven't seen anything from Johno. He was having severe computer problems earlier, which may be the cause, but still. :-) I'll try to figure out what the problem is here.

AFComm Report:
With the ship currently undergoing repair at some out of the way station as the damage that Larry caused is apparantly being fixed, the crew are either fixing stuff, or just relaxing from the hectic and stressful mission they has just finished. The Columbus has been moving steadily and consistently throughout the month, even with Johno's absence. Posting has been at a good level, and most of the characters have been finding something to occupy their time with, although there have been a couple of AWOLs.

Emotions are still somewhat tender, and the controlled senior staff are slowly fitting back into life onboard the Columbus, as well as trying to get to grips with the realisation of what they got up to whilst being controlled.

There has been some rather interesting character development, and some initmate liasons between Linus and Tamzin's characters. The stop at the station has allowed a few new recruits to come onboard, as well as some old hands to fill up the crew levels, which have been a tad on the low side recently.

All in all, the Columbus is in fine shape.

USS Montgomery

CO: Barret Vogtman
XO: Philip Hobday
GM: Larry Garfield

CO Report:
Having just come on board within the last week, there's not much I can say. From what I understand from both Larry and Jeff, the Monty really didn't get the attention from the CO that it needed or deserved. That shall change with all due haste. It would be a bit premature for me to give an assessment of the ships status since I'm still deciding, but regardless of it's current health, I intend to improve it.

FComm Report:
Activity on the Monty has picked up now that the people in positions of authority are active or have deligated that authority to someone who is. Posting is up, as is character interaction. I'm looking forward to the plot picking up steam as well, as I expect that by the next fleet report we will be in the heat of the finale or close to it.

Starbase 202

CO: Philip Hobday
XO: David Yim
GM: Larry Garfield

CO Report:
Starbase 202 continues to be an enjoyable place to RP. There has been a slight drop in activity as the Fleetwide enters what we assume is its penultimate phase, and crew members find themselves with little to do. I am concerned that, as I have expressed before, the thin spread of GM coverage means that some officers are finding little engagement with the plot and that GMs/COs/XOs/DHs across the Fleet may need to work hard to ensure that everyone is able to participate in the fleetwide. I have been particularly impressed with Lt. Able, who has been fighting singlehandedly against everything Larry can throw at him, and Lt. (j.g.) Rose, who it appears has a flair for the romantic! The drop in activity notwithstanding, SB202 remains a fun place to RP, and an installation of which I am proud to be in command.

FComm's approval permitting, I propose to hold the largest party to mark the End of the Fleetwide for all members of the Fleet, aboard Starbase 202. Suggestions would be gratefully received!

AFComm Report:
The starbase is progressing well this month, activity has had it's ups and it's downs, but is slowly picking up, what with the arrival of the council, and attempting to capture the ones responsible for the shootout in the brig, the action has been varied and interesting. The crew are continuing to interact well, and there has been some definite character development, most noticeably between the CNS and the CSS, who are still on their date!

Crell

Active Members: Larry Garfield, Deanne Ashton, Emma Rouse-Deane, Johnathan Hughes, Jeremy Friedman

Status:
In an amazing turn of events, we actually completed the evening that began a long time ago in a, er, I mean began over a month ago. Maybe more. We're now all the way to lunch the next day, with a lot happening in between. Crell continues to be a low-volume, high-quality clique that fits together excellently, and the site of some top-notch posting.
