As many have noted, we are rapidly approaching the Finale Fleetwide's Finale. I am now going to curse myself and say that I expect us to be in full swing with the final showdown by the time of the next report. (Now watch everyone AWOL on me, making that impossible.) Activity is steady on most ships, although key LOAs have slowed a few threads. Fortunately, for once they are not critical threads. So what has been happening with our friends the Palpitine and those mysterious brown-robed figures? Stay tuned...
The Columbus has been slowly undergoing repairs while the crew takes a long-awaited break. Unbeknownst to the crew but knownst to the GM, the repair teams at Outpost 44 are working overtime to try and get the ship back in shape quickly, as it is needed back on the front ASAP.
In all likelyhood, it will be needed to help stop the Palpitine planet-killing supership that destroyed Alderaan and now appears poised to wipe out the Mu Gamma system completely. The ship is any ED designer's wet dream, although the ability to destroy a planet is insignificant compared to the power of The Force. The Asimov rescued two survivors from one of the ships defending Mu Iota II, including Captain Duval of the Palpitine Fett sect. He claims that Vader and his supership demanded his sect's surrender and when they refused started blowing them to kingdom come. Vader, meanwhile, has moved his ship into position to target the Mu Iota star itself.
Not as far away as they would like to believe, the crew of the Montgomery, now under the temporary command of Commander Barret Vogtman who replaces the Ten Backward-whipped Jeff Field, have located what appears to be a major Awaj trading post. The beady-eyed Awaj who is taking orders appears to have the stature of a Crag, the clothing of a monk, and the attitude of a used shuttlecraft salesman. After trying unsuccessfully to get them to buy a set of repair droids (you won't find better repair droids in this sector), he hinted that he may have information about a previous client who purchased what could have been Force Generators. The crew is working on what to barter for information, as well as poking fun at how the new CO is outranked by half his senior staff, including CE Captain Murri Kep.
Meanwhile, in another stellar cluster, the Alliance has arrived at Hargh while tracking the SS Falcon and its too occupants, trader Lars Ono and renegade Alliance Yuki security officer Toobits. Trybnat, the head of the Yuki Adept Council, has reluctantly agreed to allow the Alliance to send down a security detail to continue the search, but lied to the Alliance about not knowing about the Falcon's presence in the middle of their spaceport. The away team has been ordered to be on their guard for anything.
The Coucil visiting Starbase 202 have finally come clean. They, and the Palpitine, originate in a galaxy far far away, wher millennia ago the Palpitine constructed the blasphemous Rolchana as part of an attempted coup against the Galactic Republic. The Council's order, a group of individuals from countless species with the power to tap into the cosmic Force, managed to defeat them but the Rolchana was lost through time and space. For a thousand generations they have been scouring the universe searching for it so that it could be destroyed, only to find the Federation had already done it but that here were the Palpitine again, raising fears of what has happened back home.
There is some rather interesting stuff going on in sickbay, which involved slapping patients, knives and phasers.. and that is supposed to be a place for the sick.. definitely a spot for the local tourist board to avoid like the plague, as well as certain captains! :)
The interaction with the crew is good, they all get on seemingly well, and the ship is made up a very good bunch of core characters, that make the ship what it is, wacky, but fun! We've had a couple of LOA's, but they, as usual, haven't hurt the ship too badly.
Edison is doing a great job in finding his feet, and is complimenting the skills of my CO character well, and is fitting in brilliantly with the rest of the crew.
All in all, we ain't looking too bad this month.
Emotions are still somewhat tender, and the controlled senior staff are slowly fitting back into life onboard the Columbus, as well as trying to get to grips with the realisation of what they got up to whilst being controlled.
There has been some rather interesting character development, and some initmate liasons between Linus and Tamzin's characters. The stop at the station has allowed a few new recruits to come onboard, as well as some old hands to fill up the crew levels, which have been a tad on the low side recently.
All in all, the Columbus is in fine shape.
FComm's approval permitting, I propose to hold the largest party to mark the End of the Fleetwide for all members of the Fleet, aboard Starbase 202. Suggestions would be gratefully received!
A long time ago on a BBS far far away...
