Fleet News and Briefs

Although a bit behind schedule, we are still reaching climax. The astute member will notice a new ship in Fleet Four, "Endor's Game." Bad puns aside, it's a cross-link ship, akin to the "INSURRECTION" ship I used in Fleet Two for the GWFleetwide in 1999. The Asimov, Montgomery, and Columbus are all linked, but what do you think are the chances they are joined soon?

RPG Update

The Council on Starbase 202 has asked for Starfleet's assistance in locating and stopping the Palpitine at any cost. The freighter Otana, it seems, includes some Palpitine construction and materials. The Otana, for those who don't remember, is an unknown freighter that docked at the station not long ago, containing, apparently, a group hell bent on freeing the green and spikey bounty huter Greedo. The Council has asked that they be allowed to succeed, and a homing beacon placed aboard their ship.

The Alliance away team to Hargh was greeted by the Yuki in their normal cold but cordial manner, although something was clearly a foot. Aside from the Yuki being a foot taller than humans, one of the Yuki leaders, Costard, has revealed that there is another race on Hargh, attempting to covertly control the leadership through some sort of mind control.

The Asimov has sent a runabout to make a scanning run of Vader's ship, which so far at least hasn't been picked up by the huge ship's sensors. At the request of Captain Duval, the Asimov is trying to evacuate as many Palpitine of the Fett sect off of Mu Iota II before Vader fires on the star, destroying the system. Figuring they needed help, Captain Thwayya has contacted her old friend Captain Ridley of the USS Columbus, asking them to get their recently-repaired butts to Mu Iota II as quickly as possible.

The Montgomery managed to trade for information from the Awaj station, then as previously agreed released Belka and his companions from the Palpitine of the Malencar sect. They then set course for... Mu Iota II. The Awaj had stated that they had sold 14 Force Generators to Belka's Malencar sect, but kept two, which they later sold to.... the Fett sect. The plot thickens...

USS Alliance

CO: Larry Garfield
XO: Peter Hull
GM: Chris Ashley

CO Report:
Activity on the ship has slowed due to the bulk of the plot moving planet-side. Unfortunately, a few untimely computer failures for the XO and CMO have slowed things planet-side, as well. I'm hoping that things pickup now that the XO is back, and the away team has given the ship something to do. There's plenty to do before, ah, other stuff happens that needs to be done soon, but I'm confident that we'll manage it.

USS Asimov

CO: Emma Rouse-Deane
XO: Edison Uy
GM: Larry Garfield

CO Report:
Posting has been a tad on the slow side this month, but the quality of the posts have been excellent as usual. I can't fault my crew in that department, they are all very creative, and we always end up with some excellent suggestions and ideas, which makes my job a little easier.

After the little skirmish in sickbay last month, we have made friends with Captain Duval of the Fett Sect of the Palpitine and are helping to evacuate Mu Iota II before both the planet, the system and us are destroyed by that big planet killing craft.

Rather than confront the ship, we are doing covert surveillance, and have a runabout (See I got it right here! :-) ) doing some covert scans in the hopes of finding a weak spot. Even if we don't, the data should keep both engineering and science happy and occupied, if nothing else!

We've had a few more LOA's this month, must be all this nice warm weather we are having around these parts, but it hasn't caused any problems, the departments have carried on functioning, and the tasks and problems are being solved. The crew are geting on fine, our ship is still in one piece, and is a very fun place to RP and I have no complaints, so another good month for us!

USS Columbus

CO: Johnathan Hughes
XO: Linus Lindblad
GM: Larry Garfield

CO Report:
SIM STATUS: The Columbus is about to rejoin the fleetwide, having received an urgent call from the Asimov. She's heading for Mu Iota III, with a hot date with a planet full of Palpatine refugees and a maniac in a planet-destroying superweapon!

SHIP HEALTH: The confusion surrounding the beginning of Captain Ridley's tenure and the accompanying mucking around seems to be a distant memory. The roster is now much more full, with a regularly posting DH in every department with the exception of Security. The current security head is Brandon Stoll (AKA Raynor Briggs), but his status is to be clarified in the next few days. Meanwhile, there are a number of good security officers (both chiefs and indians, so to speak) and the department does not appear to be suffering.

It is worth mentioning the sterling efforts of a number of crew members, although most of the crew could quite easily be mentioned in dispatches! Examples that come readily to mind are the ongoing saga of the fight between Adrian Jordan and Kor'Esh; not to mention something we can't mention involving the XO and a Caitian engineer and some whipped cream!!!!! Then, of course, we have the holodate between Kat Montenegro and Heinrich Muller, and the list goes on. Posting is up, AWOLs are down. It's a nice place to sim.

AFComm Report:
The fleet seems to be filled with a spot of romance this month, what with romantic liasons on SB202, and now similar ventures continuing on the Columbus, but this time between the XO and Lt. Antilles, the feline members are certaily enjoying themselves. Crew interaction, and development has been progressing well, and all in all the ship is very active, considering they have mostly been involved in character development. The Counsellor took a trip to the station and got set upon, Kor'Esh and Jordan have been .. making amends, and we've got an old familiar face back onboard in the form of Stuart who returns from a parallel universe or something ;).

As the Fleetwide enters the final phase, the Columbus is heading back into the action to assist the Asimov, and probably meet an explosive showdown, but only time will tell how that turns out. A great month for the Columbus.

USS Montgomery

CO: Barret Vogtman
XO: Philip Hobday
GM: Larry Garfield

CO Report:
The Sim: The Monty has just entered the area of the “Star Destroyer”. The Columbus and the Asimov are already there. We are currently maneuvering ourselves in between them and the Star Destroyer and awaiting a response to our hails. I’m a bit concerned that half our fleet has been lead to this area all at the same time. I find it a bit more than coincidental but I could be wrong.

The Ship: The crew seems to be adjusting well to the transition. I’m still settling in to the new surroundings. This ship definitely does have an interesting crew and personality. We definitely need to improve on that Bridge destruction rate a bit, however.

FComm Report:
Activity has picked up now that we have an active CO, although the GM's schedule has slowed things a touch. Now that the plots are coming together, I am predicting an increase in activity. Several junior officers have started side threads of their own, which is good in general and good to help support the plot. All the Monty needed was decent leadership and a thwap upside the head. It will get thwapped a bit more in the near future, as always.

Starbase 202

CO: Philip Hobday
XO: David Yim
GM: Larry Garfield

CO Report:
202 continues to slide through the Fleetwide. We are enjoying the visit of that august body, 'Not-the-Jedi' Council, who are proving highly entertaining for my first officer and me. The crew seem to be continuing to bond well and their roleplaying is good, although posting can sometimes be a tad slack, there is reason for great satisfaction.

Lieutenant Able and Lt. (j.g.) Rose are sharing with us the fruits of their romance. It is always a pleasure to see officers develop confidence, and role-playing skills, to the extent that they feel able to tackle a complex relationship of this kind. Our new Chief Science Officer is proving a competent officer, and we are currently looking for a new Chief Medical Officer.

There are two minor points of concern. Firstly, there does appear to be an abundance of OOC posts, and sometimes it can be moderately irritating for those who are not directly involved; this is only a minor. Secondly, the Fleetwide, while it is, in the main, a successful venture, developing a certain tiredness. The sim needs to be held together and sufficient opportunities provided for engagement, especially by the newest additions to crews, and brought to a conclusion speedily, but with panache.

Finally, may I invite everyone in the Fleet to an End-of-Fleetwide party aboard Starbase 202? I am not sure how the mechanics of this will work, but we are going to have a huge party, and it would be good to bring everyone in the Fleet together.

AFComm Report:
Activity levels on the starbase have been a bit low this month, although it has had it's occasional peaks, but that has consisted of quite a few OOC posts. This helps bring the crew together more, but can be somewhat distracting from the main storyline. There has been some steady development of the relationship between the Counsellor and the Chief of Security which has even lead to a spot of romance. The CO and XO have been trying to extract some information from their guests that form some kind of alien council opposed to the Palpitine, and they still have some escaped intruders from the shootout in the brig on the loose somewhere. So all in all plenty to be getting on with. The Quantity may not be there, but the quality, certainly is top notch. With the fleetwide entering the final stages, I have no doubt activity will pick up.

Crell

Active Members: Larry Garfield, Deanne Ashton, Emma Rouse-Deane, Johnathan Hughes, Jeremy Friedman

Status:
The speed of the plot on Crell has picked up. After taking a month and a half to go an hour in the plot, we've managed to go a full 12 hours in only 3 weeks! The most heart-ripping problem has dealt with itself, to the great joy and sorrow of everyone involved. And the trio of Deanne, Jeremy, and Johno continues to fail miserably to translate Standard into Bolian.
