Fleet News and Briefs

Here we are, all together again and ready to kick butt. Well, at least parody some. But it's not the butt you think. Please bear with us as we make a huge turn and scare a few folks. Now what does that all mean? Like I'm going to tell you that....

With almost everyone at Hargh and cross-linked through Endors Game, things now get messy. These cross-ship links are always hard to do, which is why I am going to try and get through this final part as fast as I can. By the time of the next fleet report, the fleetwide should be over. Notice the use of the word "should", as while I fully expect to be done quite soon, I am not going to rule out unexpected disasters (at least those disasters that I am not responsible for).

RPG Update

The sneaky and dastardly bad guys on Starbase 202 have rescued Greedo, the green and spiky bounty hunter (not to be confused with the Green Lantern), and escaped from the ship. But the crew let them go; that's the only reason for the ease of their escape. They're tracking them. In fact, the Yub nub-class USS Foam and the still mysterious council are hot on their tail following them to.... Hargh.
Is this a surprise to anyone?

The Montgomery and Columbus arrived in the Mu Iota system, but not in time to do anything to stop Vader from using his ship to destroy the Mu Iota star. His "Star Destroyer" jumped out of the system with some sort of transwarp or inter-dimentional drive, while the star itself went nova in a really neato-cool display of colors. The Asimov, Montgomery, and Columbus had just enough time to beam about a thousand people off of the surface of Mu Iota II before warping out; a thousand out of some four or five thousand on the surface. They met up with the flagship of the Fett Sect, who were highly uncooperative. Captain Duval, however, one of the Fett survivors, defied his leaders and explained to the Asimov and company what was going on. The Fett did indeed have a pair of Force Generators, purchased from the Awaj. One was on Mu Iota II, which Vader demanded be turned over to him. When the Fett refused, he blew them to smithereenes. The other is at their secret facility.... on Hargh.

The Alliance away team had learned the same thing; the Fett Sect was on Hargh, and had a secret underground lair where they had several small vessels, and probably a Force Generator. The away team snuck into the secret lair with their Yuki comrades, incapacitated the one inept guard, and rescued Toobits and Falcon captain Lars Ono. Their next move is to locate the Force Generator and disable it. In orbit, meanwhile, the Alliance witnessed the arrival of the few surviving ships from Mu Iota II, who had come straight to Hargh. Yuki orbital control granted them entrance to the system immediately, which set off dozens of red flags, but before that part could be figured out another vessel entered the system; Vader's Star Destroyer. The Alliance sent a distress signal to the rest of the fleet, who have now joined them at Hargh.

Now, it gets messy.

USS Alliance

CO: Larry Garfield
XO: Peter Hull
GM: Chris Ashley

CO Report:
Activity has picked up now that the orbiting crew has something to do. GM Ashley has done a decent job of pushing things forward on the surface, and I am pleased to report that we are more or less in sync now. I knew we could do it once we had something to do.

USS Asimov

CO: Emma Rouse-Deane
XO: Edison Uy
GM: Larry Garfield

CO Report:
Well we've been busy this month, evacuating planets before they explode, fleeing shockwaves, and now joining the entire fleet at Hargh to take on our star destroyer that we have been tracking for the whole mission. What are the chances of us coming out of this with the body work of the Asimov intact, I wonder?

Posting is back to a steady level, as we head into the final stages of the fleetwide. The quality is on par with what I expect from the crew, so all in all we are looking good in that regard, and I forsee a great deal of action heading our way as the sim grows to, no doubt, an explosive conclusion.

Kudos has to go to the entire crew, who make the Asimov a great place to roleplay, and this report would be longer than usual if I listed them all ;-) Nearly everyone is back off LOA, AWOLs are few and far between, and I've got no complaints. All in all a great month.

USS Columbus

CO: Johnathan Hughes
XO: Linus Lindblad
GM: Larry Garfield

CO Report:
None at this time

AFComm Report:
The Columbus has been preoccupied with the refugees from Mu Iota II, and a meeting with the science department aboard the Asimov, which didn't come into being after the fleet headed into the danger zone of Hargh. Posting has been steady and of a very good quality as usual, and there has been some excellent crew interaction. Especially from Ens Heinrich Muller (John Lucas), who did some great posts aboard the Little ship during the planet evacuation. No doubt things can only get better as we warp towards the finale, but a good month all in all.

USS Montgomery

CO: Barret Vogtman
XO: Philip Hobday
GM: Larry Garfield

CO Report:
The Sim: The Monty had tracked some force generators to the Mu Iota system where they found the Asimov and the Columbus. They also came in contact with the Star Destroyer that had been dubbed Goliath. Currently the Monty has been ordered to assist the Alliance with the rest of the fleet.

The Ship: Posting over the month has had its ups and downs as usual. Overall it is generally slow. I anticipate this to change this coming month with the end of summer and the beginning of school once again. The roster is currently a bit lite which I will also be working on.

The Crew: Overall, the crew is a fine example of what a captain would want to have. Other than the occaisional disappearance of a junior officer, which is commonplace within the club, not much problem exists in this area.

Recommendations: At this time, I'm still relatively new to the ship and not yet ready to make recommendations.

Comments: The Monty is a great ship and I am honored to be serving as her CO.

FComm Report:
Activity is steady, except for Engineering. We are saddened by the recent loss of a very solid Eng that has hurt activity there. However, things are looking up around the ship, and we should get back to blowing things up soon. Kudos to the CO, XO, and COS for consistenty high quality posting.

Starbase 202

CO: Philip Hobday
XO: David Yim
GM: Larry Garfield

CO Report:
The Fleetwide seems to be drawing to a conclusion, although I have yet to spot an evil Emperor trying to kill the F-Comm’s apprentice with blue lightning

The starbase has slowed down a little. The two main sub-plots were the presence of the ‘Council’, a mysterious body of venerable old chaps somehow connected with the Palpatine sect, and the presence of some less amenable terrorists. Both of these have now departed, and Lt.-Cmdr. Yim commands the station, where, at present, little is happening. However, everyone, I think, has been very involved and they do deserve a bit of a rest! After the wind-down of the sim and the party, I hope the starbase crew will be regenerated and well able to face a new mission.

I have been very impressed with Ensign Dan Ceo, who has arrived aboard as a Security Officer. He has been eager to post and always posts of the highest quality, and isn’t afraid to say what he thinks. An officer who will, when given some more time, be ripe for appointment as a department head, and should, with proper experience, have the potential for command.

AFComm Report:
The starbase's posting rate has been steady, if not a little slow. Most of the action is currently happening off the station, in orbit of Hargh, where the Foam has now joined in on the little party we seem to be having there with Darth Vader. The station itself is.. quiet, perhaps a little too quiet, but no doubt the crew can come up with something to occupy themselves, and there is still the damage from a few explosions down in the brig, some injuries I seem to recall - but no doubt with the talent of the crew, we are in for a treat of some character development.

Crell

Active Members: Larry Garfield, Deanne Ashton, Emma Rouse-Deane, Johnathan Hughes, Jeremy Friedman

Status:
Yet again, Crell provides very slow but very high quality posting. The Ashton/Friedman/Hughes team continues to impress, while the Garfield/Ashton IC soap opera continues to amuse. It has also been leanred that the Crag have no comprehension of pie a la mode. Deanne is also on a date with Emma's character, although it's far more malevolent than that. About normal this month.
