Quote of the Month
]
The fleetwide has finally been completed. Yay! My thanks and congratulations to the entire fleet for their hard work and solid role playing through this elaborate but exciting super-plot. They've held up well over the past year (well, 10 and a half months), and even supported the plot where my original plans (such as they were) fell through or went thin. To be fair, the plot was co-written by the entire fleet, not just by me. I'm just an overbearing editor. :-)
COs will now get to name their new GMs, and as soon as the much-requested party is complete on Starbase 202. For my part, I will be GMing no more than one ship in the fleet for now, depending on what COs request my services (or rather, which don't run in terror at the thought of me GMing again).
I'm still working at compiling the entire history of the fleet into one large document for posterity. As soon as that is completed, it will be published in various places for historical reference, plot backstory, and to serve as permanent record of what is without a doubt the most elaborate and longest-running super-plot in STF history. And for the sake of the sanity of the entire club, let us hope it stays that way. :-)
Starfleet, of course, was not about to allow Vader to destroy the Yuki, and battle ensued; a very quick and decisive battle, in which the Starfleet ships were quickly routed by the massive Star Destroyer. All seemed lost, save for one small chink in the Star Destroyer's invincible armor The giant anti-proton gun, used to destroy planets, had a small 2 meter wide exhaust port, located port ventral forward on the vessel's hull, it's "left breast" if you will. The Fett on station Hargh One picked up a transmission from the Montgomery, which had found the exhaust port, and while the Star Destroyer was distracted launched an experimental interplanetary missile at it. The arrow-like missile struck the Star Destroyer in its one vulnerable spot, causing the anti-proton cannon to explode, and the entire ship was obliterated.
Victory was short-lived, however. No sooner had the Star Destroyer been distroyed than a Seetha task force arrived in the system, demanding reparations for the destruction of Alderaan. Darth Sussudio didn't care if the Star Destroyer was already destroyed, he wanted revenge. Before Commodore Bligh could respond, another fleet showed up. It was the entire Malencar Sect's slaver fleet, led by Belka, seeking vengence of their own. As they were slaver ships, they also brought with them the 13 remaining Force Generators still in existence.
Bligh quickly contacted Gnuall of the Fett sect and Darth Sussudio, and called for a truce. The three fleets united against the new attacker, and a second battle began.
Meanwhile, on the surface, the Alliance away team was faced with a team of Fett troops, intent on keeping their dominion over the Yuki. They were ambushed, however, by Costard and several dozen free Yuki that knew of the Fett involvement, and battle raged across the forest as well. The Starfleet and Yuki teams were eventually victorious, and turned their attention on the last of the Force Generators, with orders to destroy it.
In orbit, the battle was not going well. The Malencar ships, though technologically not as well-equipped as the Starfleet vessels, had not just been through combat with the Star Destroyer. All three remaining Fett vessels were destroyed, and the Columbus, Montgomery, Asimov, and Foam were nearly destroyed. Just when all seemed lost, a new force arrived. The dozen council ships, carrying the Force-attuned expedition from the foreign galaxy that had set out to locate and destroy the Rolchana, streamed into the system. Their firepower was far greater than anything the Malencar could throw at them, and the eagle-like ships tore through the attackers. The tide of battle had turned, for the last time. The Battle of the Five Fleets ended in victory, barely.
The Malencar sect was destroyed completely. The Fett sect was reduced to perhaps 600 people total in the system. Bligh contacted the councilor flagship and thanked them. Modu, leader of the coucil, stated that his order was returning to their home galaxy to assess the damage, and was gathering to them all of the Palpitine sects in the galaxy to take them home. With that, they departed forever.
Starbase 202 had been monitoring the situation on subspace radio, and made an emergency call to Starfleet command for assistance. A task force of 12 Yub nub destroyers was dispatched, but arrived just in time to tow the disabled Starfleet vessels back to to the station. The remaining Seetha returned to Sith. The battle was over.
The crew have done well, we've more or less survived the fleetwide, and get to live and tell the tale :) Posting has fluctuated, and has on occasion been a tad on the low side, especially as the fleetwide has been reaching it's eventual climax, but the quality, as always is very good. I can't fault them on that :)
Sickbay has been inundated with patients, that should keep Ash happy, as she won't have to injure any of the crew without good reason. There has also been some good bonding between the medical department, especially between Cordell and Dennis two characters.
Let me say welcome back to Ralf, who is reprising his role as our ships counsellor, and all I can say is he's got his or was it her work cut out, as the whole crew, baring me of course, is nuts, and yes that is a technical term! ;) We've also got a new bartender onboard, so I'm just wondering how long it will take the crew to realise. Last time we had one of those, they spend mote time in the bar than at their duty stations, not that I'm implying that they are a bunch of alcoholics.
Posting has been steady, what with minding prisoners.. no my mistake guests :) , and fighting off crafts that want nothing more than to blow everyone out of the stars. There has been more or less something for everyone, and when there hasn't, the crew have been very creative. With the sim close to winding down, the shore leave and R&R will do everyone some good, especially with everything they have been through over the course of the mission.
Although posting has been down, it has generally been on par with the rest of the fleet, and the quality is still very good. Even the new recruits that have recently come onboard mid way through the finale have been doing some very detailed and entertaining posts.
"This recipe is certainly silly. It says to separate two eggs, but it doesn't say how far to separate them."
