Quote of the Month
]
The fleet mission is over, let the fleet party begin. :-) All five ships are currently cross-linked to a topic on Starbase 202, "Party on the Promenade", where the fleet is unwinding. I'm happy to say that STF's longest fleetwide (either ten and a half months or four years, depending on how you want to count it) was a success, if a stressful one for the GMing staff. After the requisite speeches by various people, the Montgomery's engineering band, The Plasma Conduits (the hottest band this side of a warp core) got the fleet going with their latest number, intermingled with a funeral for Monty XO Richard Brand.
The Fleet bids farewell to long-time member and Starbase 202 CO Philip Hobday, who is stepping down in order to concentrate on his senior year studies. The starbase will be commanded now by long-time Fleet Four fellow Brian Smith of New Jersey. Brian has been with STF and with Fleet Four since the very beginning of the fleet, and is a long time member of the Alliance. Congrats, Brian, I know you'll do your old captain proud. :-)
With the fleetwide over, I've instructed all COs to locate new GMs ASAP. Emma has asked me to GM the Asimov, which will be my only GM position in the fleet for a good time to come. :-) The Alliance and Montgomery have GMs or GMCs planned, but I've not yet heard anything for the Columbus or Starbase 202 yet.
Of course no after mission celebration is complete without a promotion party, and we will be having one of those in the next few days, which should put our new bartender to good use, and allow me to stock up on some cake eating antics.
Activity has been solid, and the depth of the posts is what I expect from the Asimov crew, they are a good bunch, and have managed to get through our last sim without too many hiccups. Character development has been going well, with Cordell (Michael Briscoe) and Dennis's (Chloe Taylor) characters getting on beautifully . Who knows at this rate we may even end up having another wedding, after all we haven't had one of those in a while. :) Some fun in the bar with our bartender, and of course all the interaction and excitement at the fleet party
We have said goodbye to Ryan, as his RL has intruded, and Nick has left us also. Our engineering department is looking a bit thin of the ground, but I am making steps to improve that, no really I am! And we welcome onboard two new recruits fresh from the Challenger, James and Eric.
Overall a pretty decent month
As most people know by now, Phil Hobday is leaving us. As such, his character, Commander Brand XO USS Montgomery, met an untimely fate. Shalon Hulbert has stepped up to the plate to fill the void and I feel he will do a fine job.
Also, Tara Manini, Evan Casey, and Jennifer Schubert (Trinity Skire) all received promotions. Congratulations are therefore extended and there will be more promotions to come shortly.
Next, we also have a former crewmember returning. Daniel Michaels, a former engineer of the Monty, has returned to take up the CTO slot. I believe it is his first DH slot and his enthusiasm thus far leads me to believe he will do well. Welcome back Dan-o.
With the ending of the great fleetwide, Der Fuhrer Garfield has informed us he will be stepping down as the GM for the Monty. After searching high and low, I was able to find a new GM. Emma Rouse-Deane has graciously agreed to come on board and will be starting our next sim as soon as her and I can speak and finalize the deal.
Finally, my already official reassignment and repromotion to Captain, have once again been made official (IC this time). During the party on Starbase 202, it was formally announced. Once again, I thank the crew of the Monty for their support and their excellent work. It has been an honor to serve as their captain, and I look forward to many more adventures to come.
Particular congratulations to David Yim, Michael Seiler, Ed Yu, Carol Lee, and Dan Ceo, all of whom were promoted one rank for consistently high role-playing standards and meritorious contribution to the OOC life of the starbase.
I am proud of all of my crew, and hope they will all continue to enjoy the starbase.
And Finally, it's out with the old and in with the new! I am resigning my commission, owing to pressure of academic work, and have been succeeded by Captain Logan, played by Brian Smith. He deserves this promotion handsomely; I know he has been a dedicated, talented, and consistent role-player for a long while. So congratulations
And to the rest of you: it was a privilege and a pleasure to serve with you,
but I take my leave, ignoring the poet's advice, and going gently into that
good night.
The station for the past month has been host to the fleetwide party, which has been engineered with the thanks to a cross-ship topic. With food, drinks and the occasional bar fight, there has been plenty of time for character development. Activity and Posting is doing well considering that the starbase, like the rest of the fleet is currently on a self-sim inbetween mission rest, until the new GMs take over. Promotions have been handed out, in what was a very long winded promotion ceremony ;-) but they were certainly well deserved.
"I'm not under the alkafluence of inkahol that some thinkle peep I am. It's just the drunker I sit here the longer I get"
