Fleet News and Briefs
We've got romance, body swapping, grouchy colonists and unidentified alien vessels throughout the fleet. So watch where you step, tis dangerous out there!
USS Alliance
CO: Larry Garfield
XO: Peter Hull
GM: Deanne Ashton
CO Report:
The Alliance has been very strong this month, with a single exception. Our GM is trying to win the Colin Wyers Malevolence Award, and so far is in the running. :-) All the crew are now in each other's bodies, mind-swapped several times. It's led to some very interesting character development, as well as insight into how different characters function (or don't function, as the case may be). Almost everyone seems to be handling it well. Of special note are Mike Bourdaa, Chris Ashley, and Johno Hughes. I should also give a commenation to Jeremy Friedman for managing to pull off two different accents at the same time. :-) The only hole is Sec officer Mike Ballway, which doesn't surprise me in the slightest since he didn't even want to RP on the ship in the first place. (I stuck him there when he rejoined, much to his annoyance.) In all, we're looking good.
GM Report:
The Alliance watched as the mystery ship, dubbed Spyke by CTO Smith, attacked a freighter in the shipping lanes. The freighter's shields held. Communication with the freighter revealed the crew was in chaos. In the confusion, the freighter dropped its shields, and when Spyke built up enough power to strike again, it destroyed the freighter.
Despite its best efforts to stay clear of Spyke, the Alliance was targeted by the mystery ship. Spyke attacked. Because of faulty power couplings, the shields were only at 83.127%. Spyke's energy wave hit the ship and precipitated a life-energy transference.
Translation: Everybody switched bodies. For some, even genders. A lot of confusion followed, which gave Spyke a chance to recharge its weapon. The crew scrambled to boost shields, which fell to 61%, and managed to get them back up to 83.127% when Spyke attacked a second time.
Again, people swapped bodies. Some, by pure chance, ended up back in their own bodies. And a couple didn't swap at all, as they weren't near anyone at the time of the attack.
The second attack gave the ship the frequency modulation of Spyke's weapon, and the shields are now adjusted for it. Engineer Husband has come up with an idea to try and match the frequency using the transporter, and switch everyone back.
Will it work? And what will happen when Spyke, who is again recharging its weapon, strikes again? Is this ship somehow related to the ruins of Camus II, which wreaked havoc for James T. Kirk back when he was young and had his own hair?
Tune in next report.
AFComm Report:
The Alliance is in the midst of a crisis. Almost everyone on board is in someone elses pants. Oh, I mean body. Oh I mean...um...Oh forget it. Anyway, it's really screwed up compliments of the GM DD who has once again proven herself extremely evil. Overall the crew remains very active and continues to impress this AFComm. Kudos to all.
USS Asimov
CO: Emma Rouse-Deane
XO: Edison Uy
GM: Larry Garfield
CO Report:
The Asimov has arrived in orbit (not docking like I tried to do at first :) ) around the planet of Valent. So far, they seem friendly enough, if not a little inferior technologically, and have allowed us permission to go down to the surface, of what seems to be their capital, as long as we comply with their laws, whatever they are. The automated message from the starbase in orbit of the planet was not very forthcoming with that information, so lets hope we don't mess up! Of course, this means we have to be careful so we don't pollute their evolutionary process, but we are trained professionals, like that's gonna happen! :)
Posting has been good and is steadily improving back to its usual strong levels, as folks are back from the holiday fun of last month, and the crew continue to impress me with the quality of the posts.
The tension in security is still there, and I don't see that matter being resolved that quickly, but we shall see. We've had some excellent indepth character development by both Elana and Ralf, so kudos to them!
All in all, we're looking good!
AFComm Report:
What can I say. Larry's up to his old tricks, Emma's getting us all in
trouble again, the CMO is continuing why you don't want to get sick on the Azzy, and the crew has to try and fix the entire mess. Posting rate and quality is remaining very high. This ship could give the daily posting ships a serious run for it's money. Kudos to all.
USS Columbus
CO: Johnathan Hughes
XO: Linus Lindblad
GM: Jake Franlin
CO Report:
None submitted
GM Report:
Ok, here we go. The Columbus is still near starbase 42 and is inspecting the lead colony ship, the UFS Newton. There is damage to the sheild emitters and EPS grid. The CE of the Newton (Kurt) is warming to the away team slowly and the fleet CMO (Doctor Dave Clayton) is just about to be talked to by the Columbus' CNS. The CO of the starbase wants to get the ships moving asap as they are taking up room.
FComm Report:
The Columbus is looking in fine shape this month. Posting is strong and consistent, and like the fleet in general, has picked up to a nice steady pace now that the holiday season is finally behind us. The mission that Jake has planned has finally started to take form, after the skirmish between the colony freighter and the Bolian vessel was quelled with the help from an unlikely source, the ships resident shoot first, ask questions later Klingon. :)
The Columbus' away team is getting a moderate welcome from the colony ships during their investigation of their systems, but I expect at least a few tensions there, considering the Federation and the Columbus' escort is not really welcome.
Overall, the ship is looking good.
USS Montgomery
CO: Barret Vogtman
XO: Shalon Hubert
GM: Emma Rouse-Deane
CO Report:
The Monty is currently on a search and rescue mission which is getting
stranger by the day. GMC Emma RD is doing an outstanding job. The crew continues to honor and astound their CO and overall is doing an excellent job. When all is said and done, the Monty is a fine example of why F4 is the best fleet in STF.
XO Report:
Posting has slowed some in the last month, due to what has been reported by all as busy real life stuff. Three members of the crew have recently gone AWOL, one of which was a new member who never posted. Other than that things are moving along nicely. The sim is chugging along only held back at times by the slow posting I mentioned earlier.
I rate our posting level a solid B+ right now.
The crew have all been living up to expectations, no exceptional playing this month but also no abominable playing. All departments are keeping busy and interdepartment relations seem to be at an all time high, in my experience that is.
GM Report:
The Montgomery has followed the warp trail and picked up a Federation distress beacon, which has given them some hints at what has happened to the missing runabout they have been sent to locate.
The message itself is garbled in places, mainly due to the interference caused by what has been determined, after some analysis, to be an Electromagnetic pulse residue. It seems whoever attacked the runabout, uses that as their primary weapon.
The degraded warp trail stops short of the Drazir system, and there are also traces of a thruster trail, possibly from an escape pod. There is also an unknown organic-energy residue nearby, which could be quite possibly from the attacking ship.
Starbase 202
CO: Brian Smith
XO: David Yim
GM: Timothy Smith
CO Report:
Starbase 202 is currently just really starting into its simm. Everyone is doing well enough, that I don't see a need to try and improve anything at this time. All departments are rather strong in the way that the ppl that are in their departments are doing well. I'd have to say that I am rather pleased with the ship, even if some ppl who shall remain nameless forget who is in charge (EG)
GM Report:
The UI ship emerged from the odd anomoly, which closed behind it.
The USS Foam attempted to lock on with its tractor beam, but failed.
The UI Ship began jamming comm frequencies and flew off in persuit of the FMS Rebate. The Rebate putted along nice and oblivious.
The UI ship beat the Foam to the Rebate, and opened a hail.
The rebate tried to raise its sheilds, but the UI crippled the rebates
shields with a specialised device (I dont intend on the crew being able to examine this ship too closely and rip it apart in a cargo bay, so I havent gone into too much detail about its tech specs.. this is intentional)
The Foam is about to arrive on the scene, and the UI so far has not fired any real weapons at the rebate or the foam
FComm Report:
Posting on the starbase has been consistent, steady and enjoyable to read, and it is fair to say things have picked up nicely after the Christmas holidays. The sim that Tim is putting them through is slowly starting to take shape, what with Ferengi, anomalies and Unidentified ships, it would seem they are in for quite a ride.
So far there has been little damage to the Starbase itself, which definitely makes a change, that place has probably had enough of explosions, bombs and other things that seem to make loud bang noises!
All in all, not a bad month.

The will they, won't they relationship between Oliver and Lillith has finally reached a climax, as both have laid their cards out on the table about how they feel, which has lead to some crossed wires and a very distressed Doctor. What happens next?, heck if I know ;)
The budding romance between Bart and Sarah continues to develop, even though it's obvious to both that the future for the pair of them is uncertain, considering Barts past.
Stay tuned for the next exciting episode! :)
