Fleet News and Briefs
Hearty congratulations to Timothy Smith and myself for becoming Junior GM's, does that mean we can blow up the ships now, and not get prosecuted? :) The fleet also sees the welcomed return of Krystelle Bromilow, former CO of SB202. Yay, welcome back! :)
USS Alliance
CO: Larry Garfield
XO: Peter Hull
GM: Deanne Ashton
CO Report:
Activity on the Ally has gone up and down this month, but has been good
overall. Sadly, we have lost or will soon be losing a few good faces to time constraints. Mike Ballway didn't last long, to the surprise of no one :-), and Scott Jordan will be leaving us soon as part of his
character cutbacks. We're all sorry to see them both go. The plot
continues to thicken, although an away team is beginning to unravel the
mystery of the body swapping starship. Now if only they could unravel
the body swapping! Meanwhile, CO Stoek and his wife's idiot savant twin have been swapping logical parries, debating whether or not to actually speak to each other while they have the chance to hold a stable conversation. Will they ever hook up? Will T'Dae remain convinced that Stoek hates her? Will Stoek ever care one way or another about T'Dae? (Of course not, he's a Vulcan.) Stay tuned!
GM Report:
Still suffering from body-swapitis, the Alliance crew is still trying to figure out how to get back to their own physical forms. What's amusing to me is that this sim, although perhaps a bit unusual, is actually very simple to solve. Everything the players needed was given during the two "attacks." But I guess they've gotten so used to things being difficult, that they're going over everything with such a fine-tooth comb, they're missing the obvious bits. They can't see the Crell forest for the trees.
However, that's not a slight in, well, the slightest. The majority of the crew comprises solid roleplayers who are making things difficult for themselves in very creative form. It's fun to watch the players adapt to other characters' idiosyncrasies, whilst maintaining their own characters' unique qualities. They're doing a good job and I hope they're enjoying themselves as much as I am.
Currently an away team has beamed over to Spyke and are getting to the
bottom of the ship's mysteries and origins. Something tells me they'll have a lot of answers very soon. But will they be asking the right questions?
AFComm Report:
The Alliance is at the top of its game. Currently the sim is moving forward quite nicely and activity is still pretty high. The crew continues to impress.
Forecast: Continued sunny skies only slightly overcast by split personalities.
USS Asimov
CO: Emma Rouse-Deane
XO: Edison Uy
GM: Larry Garfield
CO Report:
Well, what can I say, the majority of the bridge crew have been arrested and the ship impounded!! For watching television, no less. Of course it was some strange alien broadcasts, but that's not the point. Although we're not the only ones, the away team was also under arrest, but got some help from some locals to escape, now why can't that happen to us?!
Rather than leave the ship in the hands of the mad CMO, Avery came up with a plan to send a substitute for him, although that cover looks like it could be blown by our annoying bartender ;)
Posting has been good and steady this month, we've had a few LOA's but those haven't caused us any problems. The sim is unfolding interestingly, although I would have prefered to be charged a license fee rather than be arrested, but that's just me, at least Larry has promised not to hurt the ship, he didn't mention anything about the crew though...hmmm :)
All departments are looking good, although we could do with a few more medical officers, but I'm sure Ash keeps scaring them away ;) The ship, and crew are otherwise in fine form, with excellent posting from everyone involved, they are a great bunch.
We also welcome aboard Shalon, who is filling the role of CTO. His character is adding some more tension to the ship, which gives it character, as Adravar doesn't really want to be on a Science vessel. And Clayton has returned, and made the quickest promotion to Commander in the history of STF, after he is masquerading as Commander Avery.
Stay tuned next month to see if we attempt a great escape, get given the death sentence, or just rot in a prison cell.. so may options :)
AFComm Report:
Larry is in his usual evil mode and has either detained or attempted to detain just about all the crew. Things are becoming more interesting with every turn, although Larry may be in for some twists and turns of his own. Activity remains high and the crew is, as always, still crazy, especially the captain.
Forecast: Dark clouds and strong winds are on the horizon.
USS Columbus
CO: Johnathan Hughes
XO: Linus Lindblad
GM: Jake Franlin
CO Report:
The Columbus is a nice place to role play. It's humming along nicely, with the fleet headed off (finally!) and a few little mishaps along the way. Posting frequency is good, and overall I'd rate the Columbus as a healthy ship.
I'm having a little trouble posting as frequently as I like, but at the moment the Captain is on the bridge and this isn't really affecting the sim too much.
All departments are doing well, but I'd like to highlight medical and
Engineering (with the addition of temporary 'engineer' Stuart Coll, working undercover!) as producing RPing that is consistently above and beyond the call of duty.
The only improvements I can think of at this stage would involved more science Staff (David Goldsberry is doing some sterling work as Joao, but he's not getting much support). Oh, and then there's the story - we're all so skeptical that I hope we'll find some conspirators soon. Otherwise we're ALL going to look like idiots! :)
GM Report:
There has been a fire on the UFS Newton! An exploding console that was apparently due to an engineering feedback loop, but something feels wrong. There is a med team in the Newton's sickbay dealing with casualtys and an enginering team trying to ascertain what happened.
There is also a strange, black, moss-like growth on the side of the UFS Chapman. It requires investigation, it is growing towards the ship's engines.
FComm Report:
The excitiment is hotting up over on the USS Newton as the explosion that injured numerous NE's and Lt. Coll is looking like it may have been sabotage, there's also some strange growing stuff on the hull of the Chapman, romance down in sickbay on the Columbus, and a lot of other stuff going on, even before we have reached the colony those pesky colonists are heading to! The ship is in good form. Posting has remained high and the quality equally good. The ship also sees the welcomed return of Krys Bromilow to the ranks as a Klingon med Ensign.. oo the fun I can have with that.. erm.. ;)
USS Montgomery
CO: Barret Vogtman
XO: Shalon Hubert
GM: Emma Rouse-Deane
CO Report:
The Monty is still fairly early in their sim. The new GM is doing an admirable job and has created quite and interesting situation. I have my own plot twist that will be upcoming to really put the skills of my crew to the test, but I have no doubt that they will really shine. Activity remains high with the exception of an OOC string that went a little wild and had to be squashed.
Forecast: A hurricane is approaching.
XO Report:
The level of activity has gone through a great deal of ups and downs this past month. Most noticeably, Barret was seemingly absent for a couple of stretches. As he has proved to be an extremely capable CO, I do not hold it against him, since I, for one, have felt the sting of real life pull me away from STF many times. We have lost a couple of newer crew to AWOL's but the replacements are posting strong. Overall, pretty good. I expect that as the sim advances and more indepth involvement develops more of the crew will be posting more often.
The crew as a whole has been working together quite well. I have attempted to stimulate activity by involving as many crew as possible and when they are interacted with they post very strongly. I am starting to see that interdepartmental interaction is the key to making a ship strong, and have attempted to foster that as well. The science team has been doing extremely well, and I must mention Jessica McClary and Symon Sylvester as two of the stronger members of the Montgomery crew. We have also very recently taken on Krystelle Bromilow and Jody Romero who I know from other ships as being very strong posters. With this mix of new blood and old the crew looks to be developing into a well oiled machine.
This ships crew is the best I have served with in the three-odd years I've been RP'ing on her. I only hope it keeps growing in that direction.
GM Report:
With the Montgomery in the Drazir system, scans for the missing runabout have brought them to Drazir 3 and 4, two class M planets, however any signs of the two missing officers have not been found as of yet.
Drazir 3 is difficult to scan due to ionic interference in the atmosphere and Drazir 4 shows no signs of life.
The system is laced with the same organic-energy residue, mainly between the two Class M planets. What this means has yet to be assertained.
The Montgomery has picked up a tranmission from the surface on Drazir 4, and are currently discussing the missing ship with Gorgangua, a Centaur-like alien, who knows more about the situation than he is letting on, mainly because he is currently in possession of Adrian, one of the runabout's occupants and pilot.
Starbase 202
CO: Brian Smith
XO: David Yim
GM: Timothy Smith
CO Report:
Starbase 202 is going fairly well right now, We are kinda weak on the new people that are coming in, as they are getting lost in the shuffle (Darn cards) and are just not sure how to start. Right now all departments with the exception of Science are doing well, Science is a bit week, with only one real active member.
I'm going to try and start a post to see if any member of the crew wants to make up a quote for the base, as we have none, and that should hopefully improve morale somewhat.
I know that I am week on keeping the MOTD up to date, that is something I hope to improve on, but I'd have to say that one of my strongest points is the fact that I am on the ship almost daily (with the exceptions of weekends, and those I'm using to work on my upcoming wedding)
I am quite pleased with all of my crew, and look foward to many hours dealing with them.
GM Report:
None submitted
FComm Report:
The starbase is plodding along just nicely. The Foam is off chasing some unidentified craft, that appeared out of an anomoly and which is currently hunting down the Ferengi ship, the Rebate, so they can obtain something from them! Whilst the crew that remain on the station are interacting well, and have some medical outbreak to take care of. Posting quality is good and of a consistent nature, and the usual character development continues to unravel. All in all, we're not doing bad!
Crell
Active Members: Larry Garfield, Deanne Ashton, Emma Rouse-Deane, Johnathan Hughes, Krystelle Bromilow
Status:
The soap opera continues. Just when everyone thought the drama couldn't get any more melo, it did! Two people are now in the hospital (as patients, everyone is actually in the hospital right now), everyone's favorite star-crossed couple aren't speaking to each other (the grammer there is terrible, but I have no idea what the proper grammar would be), and in all likelyhood it will only get worse before it gets better. Dramatic Irony is on the rise, exponentially. On the upside, the plot has actually moved to the next day(!), and we've been rejoined by Crell veteran Krystelle Bromilow. Hi Krys!
DH Recommendations
USS Columbus
CO Johnathan Hughes:
-
Tamzin Griffiths: She's actually XO quality, but as far as I'm aware, she's not yet a DH (I could be wrong). Her character, Leia Antilles, is a great source of fun on board, providing that much needed burst of anarchy every now and again.
-
Scott Jordan: A solid performer, and one to watch. He'll go far.
XO Recommendations
USS Montgomery
CO Barret Vogtman:
-
Zachary Bottorff : Zach was originally made the acting COS on the Montgomery, and although some people had reservations with him, I had confidence and gave him a chance. Since then he has proven himself to be an excellent, albeit a bit melodramatic, DH. His activity rate is high as well as imaginative and well thought out. He has developed his character quite nicely and I feel he will make an excellent XO.
-
Tara Manini : Tara has always impressed me. She is an excellent CMO and runs her department well. She would make an excellent XO, if she doesn’t have one already.
-
Dan Micheals : Dan returned to the Monty shortly before our latest sim began. Since then he has been very active and his posts have been imaginative. He interacts well with the other crew and would make a fine XO for someone.
USS Asimov
AFComm Barret Vogtman:
-
Brandon Goodin :Brandon has done an excellent job as COS of the Asimov. He has handled his department well and has even done a fine job handling the adversity given to him by one of his officers that outrank him. He would make an excellent XO if he doesn’t already have one
CO Emma Rouse-Deane:
-
Rue Larun :Ash has been on the Asimov before I joined, and apart from her madness, she runs her department well, and often comes up with interesting twists and turns to make sure that no one voluntarily goes to sickbay. She would definitely make a good XO.
USS Columbus
CO Johnathan Hughes:
-
David Goldsberry: Again, I don't want to look stupid if he's already got three captaincies, but if he doesn't he should. :)
