Well here it is, the first report of the new year! Things are slowly starting to pick back up (more slowly in some places than I would prefer) after the various festivities of the previous month. We've also got a brand spanking new AFComm in the shape of Tara, who previously filled in the role during Ralf's LOA a few months back, and Ralf is now back in the Captain's chair on the Columbus - guess that means the fleet needs to restock up on Llama food! :-)
We've also had a pretty decent turn out for the fleet reports, with only one exception I got them from everyone, so well done! Let's try for a full house next month, eh?!! :-)

The activity level has been a bit slow since the holidays. I see it on other ships as well. People spend too much time on trivial things like RL :-)
The crew of the Alliance has discovered the cause of destruction of the eco-sphere of Felkas Minor. They are currently attempting to stabilize the orbit of one of the toroids near the planet and to restore power to the Dominion base on the surface. There has still been no sign of the vessel that caused the destruction.
The Alliance is currently going through a slow patch, that has been brought upon by the real lives of the crew and the GM, and that has involved and still involves some key people being on LOA. With the ships small crew roster, having the brief inkling of a real life can easily bring the ship to a standstill, which she has seen in the past couple of days quite easily, and this hasn't been helped with a number of awols throughout her ranks. All this adds up and you end up with things slowly simmering. That being said, they are however making slow progress with the sim, moreso than say SB202.

The Asimov was originally onroute to the Orion system in order to try and track down a 45 year old missing freighter that contained on it's crew manifest the son of a former Starfleet Vice Admiral. However with real life hitting Butch in a big way, the crew were thrown into keeping themselves busy, and have done admirably.
That has meant the past couple of months we've had a Christmas Party in the bar, and a ton of character development that has allowed us to get a better understanding of those that serve on the ship. It has meant that the crew has had to come up with interesting ways to keep themselves occupied and has resulted in a few people coupling up!
Through all of this the quality of the roleplaying and activity levels have been very strong and consistent, with very few awols and just a couple of LOAs to enjoy the various festivities that come with this time of the year. So Kudos has to go to everyone onboard, I'd list you all here folks, but then this would turn into a novel instead of a brief report, but I think it's safe to say the cake is on me! :-D
I am also very much aware that the situation onboard the Asimov over the past couple of months hasn't exactly been ideal, especially since the Asimov isn't supposed to be a self sim environment, but that is about to change. I've managed to enlist the help of a new GMT to take over the GMing reigns and all things being equal, Danny should be starting later in the week, once he's sorted out his sim outline and his GMM. I have no idea what's going to be instore, but I'm looking forward to it!
I think the ship has been able to hold her own, even with the lack of a GM. We've had some hard times, but the crew is really good at character development and has taken advantage of the downtime to work some really intereseting character stories into their sims.
Well, everyone is doing really well. I especially enjoy the interactions between Eddie Cramer and Dallas Daniels Jr. Also Bob Hillis has brought alot of life to the ship with his character Corey and Jason Thesen - which have added another side to our CO as well.
The only other comment I have, and I am sure that my thoughts are shared by the crew of the ship, is that we need to work on getting Butch back as our GM, or do something to move the SIM along. As I said, character development is a strongpoint for this crew, but they can't carry that on forever. Otherwise - everything is great!
Earl McCune and Dallas Daniels Jr. for XO spots. Both are former academy graduates and great rpers to boot and I'm sure are now more than ready to take the next plunge up the promotion ladder.
[FComm note]There is no GM report for this month since the Asimov has pretty much been a self sim environment since early December.
Well I think I tend to agree, the Asimov is in fine shape, even if I do say so myself :-D, and can only improve with the addition of a new GM.

This month, the Columbus has witnessed the return of her long-missing CO. I'm very sorry to say that I have been out of order with health-issues much too long and am happy to be back again. I'm very pleased to report that, in spite of my long absence, the Columbus has continued to be an active and healthy ship. Most of the senior crew are regular and strong posters, and Bob has done a remarkable job of keeping the ship alive, for which I can't thank him enough. Also, Stuart's sim continues to be very interesting. We've just been faced with yet another unexpected turn of events, and it seems that now all our courtroom capabilities will be required. Long live Ally McBeal!
Addendum: I would like to recommend Bob Hillis for a CO position. Bob has effectively single-handedly handled the Columbus for almost three months and has distinguished himself in the position of aCO. I'm sure that not a few people were quite disappointed that I came back from my LOA :-D. This man needs no more training position. Somebody give him his own ship!
The Columbus has recovered well from the holiday lull. The sim is moving at a fast pace and should be concluded soon.
It's hard to single out just a couple, since nearly all our crew has done a great job. The side-simming that has occurred during this mission has added a great deal of depth to the characters. We have a great set of role-players here. Stu is an excellent GM. His sim has more twists and turns than a driving course. He's been quite patient with some of our lesser developed RP'ers and kept the story moving.
The Columbus has survived well considering the changes and twists over the past few months. We were able to write Ralf into an LOA and replace Andrea as CE and still keep the storyline quite believeable. Dean, Pat, and Shalon recently joined and have jumped heartily into the action. I think we've developed an ensemble that rivals anything Paramount could put together.
Bob Hillis for a CO spot
The Columbus is now approaching the end of its current mission. After pursuing the Narimdim spidership into Morit space, Fiona Carr and some of her associates were taken into custody. An away team was sent to the moon of Triannos IV on discovering a signal being transmitted from there. On their arrival they found what appeared to be a Renkadi outpost although bar the transmitter and its power source, all other equipment had been removed. The signal stopped and a fleet of Renkadi ships transported the Columbus crew and Carr and her associates into a large chamber where a heraing is being heard by the Renkadi to determine the ownership of the Heimdall probe as well as determining each groups overall motives.
Everyone has done brilliantly in this sim and I've really enjoyed the quality posts they've made. We've had some ups and downs during the sim but overall it's been a lot of fun. Bob and Ralf are a pleasure to roleplay with and the current crew are very solid. All in all this is an excellent ship and very enjoyable to be on.
The Columbus and Bob have handled Ralf's absense well, and I definitely second Ralf's recommendation that Bob should be on the list for a CO spot in the near future! He managed to work around Ralf's rl problems and lack of his CO character, then took command and steered the Columbus through her sim and kept things ticking over nicely. He also made it easy for Ralf to be integrated back into things upon his return. The ship and crew have done well in that regard, and like the majority of the ships around STF suffered from the holiday lull that usually affects us at this time of year, but coped well and the ship is now getting back on track! Stu's sim has kept the crew entertained and is heading towards it's final stages now I believe.

Okay, where to begin. The Monty is its usual, wacky, bridgeless self. The CE failed to adequately reinforce the shielding around the bridge to protect it. As a result, I think torture is in order. (eg) Overall, all departments are doing well. There will be some upcoming surprises later in the sim that no one but I know about yet (yes, not even the GM knows of it) but it will make things very interesting and most likely let a lot of people really shine.
The posting level on the Monty has been up lately as the sim is getting going. We are in a ctical situation now and so the post have been coming fast and furious. I think it will keep up for quite a while.
Everyone in the crew is doing wonderfully. It really seems that everyone is pulling their weight.
The sim is doing well but I would like to have a bit more help knowing who the hell we are fighting! :)
The Montgomery has been in a skirmish with an alien ship after responding to a distress call from the Janubis Mining station. After the skirmish the alien ship escaped through an unstable wormhole at the edge of the system. The ship although extremely powerfull in the weapons sense doesn't have warp drive. It does however have very fast sublight impulse engines. Once fixed back up the montgomery pursued through the wormhole. The wormhole collapsed after they entered and are now 950,000,000 ly away from the milky way in the A3182 Cluster of the Horologium SuperCluster. In a spiral Galaxy classified as PGC13013. The alien ship has been found at a planet .15 lys from the montgomery's current position. There is however a suvivor from the station with a slight case of the flu. The new strain of flu seems to thrive in a Nitrogen atmosphere and more and more people have begun to get it on the Monty. Meanwhile the alien's on their ship seem to be dying off the remaining 10 have evacuated the ship and are landing on the M class planet their ship is orbiting.
The Montgomery is bridgeless, and lost - a heck of a long way from home whilst following after some alien ship! The pace is picking up from the holiday lull quite nicely, and they are currently in the process of gathering all the information they can on their location and status, which can be a little slow going at times, but that's the nature of the beast.
Patrick himself is doing a great job as their GMT from what I've seen, and is keeping everyone occupied, so fair play to him - just as long as he returns the ship back to the fleet when he's finished torturing it... erm..!:-D

The Starbase has just begun to come out of a bit of a dead point. We had stalled because of the absence of some key players. Those players are back now and the sim is getting going. Those who are posting are posting constructively, trying to advance the story. I am trying to keep the sim going by posting advancing questions etc. The team on the surface seem to be getting along farther than those still on the starbase. Hopefully this is simply to lack of information and that will be remedied soon. I know that our GM will be leaving soon as he is swamped and that people are taking LOA's but we need to get this sim going again so that we can bring it to a successfull conclusion.
[FComm Note] There's no XO report because sadly Tamzin has been struck with real life and has declared an iLOA, which means that currently the Starbase is XO-less.

Starbases are strange beasts, they are either very active, or they are not. I'm not sure if it's got to do with the loss of the XO that the station side of things have seemed to have gotten lost somewhere, or if folks just don't understand the sim or what is going on, but the starbase is definitely crawling along at the moment, and the status column sadly reflects this, with only a few players having posted recently, and the rest in the awol region. This is definitely something that needs to be worked out so that things can try to get back on track, and I think SB202 definitely needs a lot of TLC and nursing back to health. It doesn't help that GM posts have seemingly been missed at times either, but I know the crew can do better, a lot better, since I have rped with the majority of them elsewhere.

Crell seems to be awash with both drinking and eating, and I wasn't even invited! *grumbles* Crell has always been a fairly relaxed place to roleplay that is high on character development and quality posts, and that's no exception to that rule this month.
