Awards are handed out to crew members who exhibit exemplary behavior in a specific area.
Both good in character and out of character actions are rewarded.
Below are descriptions of each award. There are three general categories: End of Mission Awards, Performance Awards, and Recognition Awards.
'End of Mission Awards' are awarded automatically based on specific criteria that is met each mission.
'Performance Awards' are awarded for oustanding performance in a certain area.
'Recognition Awards' are awarded for character attributes.

Advanced Service Award
Awarded OOC to members who have been on the ship for one year or longer. Each additional year receives a star.

Service award
Awarded OOC to members who completed the sim from beginning to end. An LOA or AWOL must have been less than 1/4th of the sim's total time. Each completed sim receives a notation.

Away team service
Awarded IC to every member who served on an away team during the sim. Character must have been part of an entire away mission to qualify (that is, not AWOL or LOA for a significant amount of time during the away mission). Each complete away team mission gets a notation.

Purple Heart
Awarded IC to any character that receives a substantial injury during a sim. Injuries must not occur due to personal affliction or stupidity, or be caused by the GM for any other reason than progression of the sim. Two types can be awarded:

Purple Heart for Duty
Awarded for a substantial injury during the normal course of duty.

Purple Heart for Combat
Awarded for a substantial injury during combat situations, or a substantial injury inflicted by an enemy.

OOC Helper Star
Awarded OOC to any player who showed exceptional help OOC to other players.

Good Posting Etiquette
Awarded OOC to all players who demonstrated proper posting etiquette by the end of the sim.

A role player may not receive more than one of the following three awards per sim. The following three awards may only be awarded once per sim.

Best Poster
Awarded OOC to one player who has stood above the others in posting quality. The player must demonstrate superior posting skills to anyone in the crew, must have actively engaged himself in the storyline and pushed it forward progressively, must have showed advanced creativity and descriptiveness in posting, and must have properly followed all the etiquette guidelines.

Most Improved
Awarded OOC to the player with the most improved posting skills. Posting skills include etiquette, sim interaction, creativity, and descriptiveness, as well as a proper use of spelling and grammar. A significant increase in posting skill must have been observed.

Best Character Development or Self Sim
Awarded OOC to the player with the best character development and/or self side-sim. This award is based on creativity, with the storyline or character development being an entire series of posts that goes above and beyond current standards of creativity in posting.

Outstanding Department Service
Awarded IC or OOC for exceptional service to one's department. The actions of the player must go above and beyond the call of duty, with an influence specific to their department. Six departments eligible:

Outstanding Leadership Ability
Awarded OOC or IC for demonstration of outstanding leadership ability that goes above and beyond what is expected of the character.

Outstanding Ship Service
Awarded OOC or IC for exceptional service to the ship. The player's actions must go above and beyond the call of duty, with an influence to the entire well being of the ship.

Outstanding Service to the Mission
Awarded OOC or IC for exceptional service to the mission (or sim). The player's actions must have significantly and positively affected the mission (or sim) in such a way that the mission would not have progressed properly without them. Such actions must also have been above and beyond the call of duty.

Engineering Achievement
Awarded IC to any character who has made a significant invention during the course of the sim. Such an invention must be replicable and generally useful to the Federation.

Scientific Achievement
Awarded IC to any character who has made significant progress with a scientific investigation during the course of the sim. Such an investigation must come to a significant conclusion to the scientific community.

Picard Discovery Award
Awarded IC to any character who has made a significant discovery during the course of the sim. The discovery must have wide spread implications, or be so unique as to merit an award.

Academics
All officers have gone to the Academy, but some have excelled. All who have completed an Academy course OOC will be considered to have excelled. There is a basic and advanced level to each course, as well as a separate notation for being an Academy graduate. Engineering, Security, Medical, Science, Counseling, and Command are the available courses. Other courses will be considered.

Bridge Training
All personnel have basic bridge training, but some require or have learned how to operate a bridge further. Two levels: Advanced and Command.

All personnel who have advanced diplomatic training.

One notation for each language other than Federation Standard and the character's native language.

Medic Training
All non-medical personnel who have completed Field Medic training. Available levels: Primary and Advanced.

Piloting Proficiency
Every officer learns basic flight control, but some train further. Each has its own notation. Available levels: Level I (small ship piloting) Level II (starship piloting) Level III (advanced starship piloting [helmsman]) Level IV (advanced small ship piloting [fighters]).

Weapons Proficiency
Every officer has basic weapons proficiency, but some train further. Each level has its own notation. Available levels: Level II (all hand-held weapons proficiency) Level III (excellence with hand held weapons) Level IV (sniper qualification/advanced starship weapons) Level D (demolitions expert) Level M (martial weapon proficiency).
