On May 5th, 1998, President Greg Hertzch announced the commissioning of the USS Genesis, NCC-85101 in the Fifth Fleet. The new ship was the first of the new Terra Nova class, designed by Seamus Hughes. Later, she was recommissioned as a Genesis-class Light Cruiser.
Former CO of Third Fleet's USS Hopper, Seamus was also the first Captain of the Genesis.
Assistant Fleet Commander Deanne Morgan (Ashton), who later succeeded Nathan Miller as Fleet Commander, was the second to command the Genesis, being named CO in July of 1998.
On March 18th 1999, AFComm-4 and Captain of the USS Montgomery Nikolle Burchett was promoted to FComm-5 in Spurlin Edict #5, and took command of the Genesis.
On April 14th 2001, newly elected President Scott Dale Robison announced in edict #3 the long awaited creation of Fleet Seven and placed Nikolle Burchett as the FComm. On April 19th 2001, the Genesis and her crew moved from their home of three years to the new Seventh Fleet.
On June 10th, 2004, Nikolle Burchett resigned from Star Fleet, and Captain Lee Brigeford was placed as the new CO of the Genesis by Dugan Edict #37.
On March 29th, 2005, Lee Brigeford resigned from Star Fleet, and Jen Herr was promoted to Captain and placed as the new CO of the Genesis by Rouse-Deane 2 Edict #11
