Constantine C. "Gus" Stavros was born on Terra, in Northeastern North America. His shipmates dont know too much of his background, as he is the Commanding Officer, a lot of the information in his personnel file is restricted to the ship's Counselor, Chief Medical Officer, and his first officer. Stavros doesnt talk too much about his background, but suffice to say the security officers he worked with and for (Commander Cromwell- who had access to his file before he became the ship's CO) have been able to flesh out some of the details of his background.

This much is known to those security officers, Cromwell, and his old pal, NE Lieutenant Mallon-

Before going to the Star Fleet Academy Stavros worked for several years as a Police Officer on Earth. Upon going to the Academy he was already quite an accomplished boxer, and did well in competition there. His studies were average, but his background gave him a leg up in his chosed field of study- security. Upon graduation he was selected to do undercover small arms weapons buys in the Triangle, and did a commendable job there. After the successful conclusion of that assignment he also served at the Star Fleet Embassy there, where he continued his other vocation, that of a professional boxer.

He then came to the Valkyrie as an Ensign and was looked upon favorably by then ship's XO, Commander Kaji Kagesu. He earned several promotions, and was noted for carrying antique firearms while on away missions (which he had to employ more than once in the line of duty). While not exactly regulation, but not a clear breach of either, he was allowed some leeway as his unorthodox methods were credited for saving lives more than once. His old academy friend, and buddy from his days in the Triangle, (NE) Lieutenant Mallon is one of his closest friends on the ship. Gus and then Chief of Engineering Krag are also credited with the construction of the ship's boxing gym. After Captain Wolfshiem was injured in the line of duty and had to be taken off duty and transported back to Earth, Gus was selected by the newly arrived Commander Jane Burke to fill the newly vacant XO position. After an incident involving maurading pirates and due to the quick action of Lt Commander Stavros, Gus was then given command of the Valkyrie, despite his young age. Commander Burke then was slotted to be his First Officer.

Upon taking command, he has been noted for issuing several innovative and unusual directives. He had the Captains quarters filled by Commander T'Pris and her son, Adrian Sorel (son of T'Pris and past ship's Captain Wolfsheim), while he took a smaller cabin assignment. He promoted Ensign Mallon to full Lieutenant (some say this was because Ensign Mallon was unjustly reduced in rank several years ago after a false allegation of larceny involving Romulan Ale). He also remained close to the security Ensigns he once was directly supervising (NE's Zimmerman, Harlin, Grant, Ferriere).

As far as appearences, Gus Stavros looks like a security guard. Broad shouldered, thick neck, with a sturdy build complete the picture. His youth and close shaven "high and tight" also lend to this youthful appearence. Although at 5'11'' he had been walking around at a solid weight of 190 or so pounds, he has been increasing his workouts and dieting, and is now a very athletic 178 pounds as he contemplates returning to competition once again.
