: "Well that's not good." James said, gingerly poking the deadened console. He noticed the hum of weapons powering up, and for the first time realised he was three floors away from anyone else, in a room surrounded by windows which suddenly looked very flimsy.

The prodding seemed to achieve something. While all the other consoles faded, this one that James was at came back to life. Mind you the power level seemed to be lower than before, but this one was alive at least. And the console image in its rather monochrome greens showed the image of the Vicki moving away ..
