"Captain, I am going to assume that you aren't familiar with the geography of this planet. There are three continents, but only one inhabited. We have a mining station and a refinement plant on one of the others. This planet is rich in vegetation with medical uses, latinum deposits and even some dilithium. We have five cities on this continent the biggest is the main capital which has the starport. The rest are outlying. We have two coastal cities, and two in land agricultural based."

Kaya was not happy with the ground that they were covering but she could see no other explanation.

Beyond standard things and risks.....we have no specific enemies, if that is what you are meaning. We just assumed the virus was natural on this planet and we only just became aware of it."

If the disease had an origin and slowly spread, it would make sense, but for it to show up at near enough the same time in different locations, the probability that it could be a natural occurence is astronomically improbable. Add to that the fact that it is not a mutation of a virus which was present on the planet before, I don't see that we can draw any other conclusion. My medical and science staff are working non-stop on trying to work out a way to combat it, but I think we need to start looking at where it came from. If we can find who is responsible, they may already have a cure for it." she mused.

Somewhere on a bridge console there is a bleep as the sensors pick the faintest trace of an unusual signal coming from the planet and aimed at a series of asteroids closer to the sun. It is a burst transmission.

Ann saw the signal and being a little bored she started examining it. She ran it through the standard decryption algorithms to see what exactly it was. It at least looked interesting in that it was unusual that it would be so faint and aimed toward an asteroid cluster.

*Most likely it's probably some sort of maintenance program for some remotely controlled mining equipment,* Ann thought. *But at least it's something to do while the egg head brigade tries to figure out a way to cure this disease. It's not like I'm going to be flying this rig anywhere anytime soon.*

Andrina rubbed her hands on her forehead and took a breath. "I think it would be worth while to another look at it's structure during different environmental stresses and bring outside elements such as radiation, molecules and drugs, there has to be a weakness since quick viruses are more unstable. There has to be something that makes it unstable before it can compensate. The only problem is that might not happen before what ever it is that harms the virus kills the host as well. However we wont know unless we try. I can set up some test and run some data, perhaps with our brains together we can come up with something they missed." Andrina said swallowing back her fear and wanting a direct plan of attack. After a moment she crossed her arms to her self and spoke again. "Whoever created this virus wouldn't create a virus that they couldn't cure. Maybe we can look at it like a code, the cure may be in the artificial structure it's self in the virus like Commander Vogtman metioned. We just need to find a way get the immune system to respond quickly enough to that structure." she added looking at the data for a moment.

Counselor's Quarters on USS Victorious

Now that navigational controls were locked out by engineering and the flurry of communications between the ship and the various patrol boats and the colonial government had ended, Ann found that she had very little to do on the bridge.

Medical had not been exactly helpful on any information on the counselor. An ensign had said he believed she went back to her quarters once the medical staff had been pulled to diagnose the new disease.

Ann figured that she needed a break and a stroll to check on the counselor would be a good enough excuse for her to leave the bridge and stretch her legs. She figured that the counselor was probably just tired, given the condition she currently found herself in. And that she probably just set her comm badge in another part of her quarters, so she could get a few moments of peace without some hypochondriac ensign telling her that he believed the entire ship was doomed to die from the disease.

She arrived and rang the door chime and after a few moments of not receiving a response she confirmed with the computer that the counselor was in her quarters.

Ann rang the door chime one more time and after a few more moments of silence became concerned.

=^=Collins to security, Counselor Miessa is not responding to her com badge or answering her door can I get someone to override the security access. I'm concerned about her.=^=

=^=I'm in the area and will be there in a few moments.=^= replied NE Reynolds.

Reynolds arrived and rang the chime and once again had the computer confirm that the counselor was in her quarters, while Ann was becoming visibly frustrated by the ensign's adherence to protocol. Reynolds finally ordered the security override and the doors opened.

Ann rushed in first and looked around the quarters that were eerily silent. She walked toward the sleeping area and saw Amari there wrapped in a shawl, clasping a broach and a small trickle of blood on her earlobe. She didn't appear to be breathing and Ann walked forward and put a hand to her neck to check for a pulse.

Reynolds must have arrived at the same conclusion Ann did as he hit his comm badge.

Ann stepped back and shook her head. She had very little hope that medical would be able to do anything for the counselor. She waited for medical to arrive and confirm her observations and tried to think about how she was going to break the news to Aries. Or even if she should wait until he was able to return to the Victorious to tell him.

*It's not like he will be able to do anything for her while he's quarantined on that rust bucket,* Ann thought. *Telling him now would probably put him and Peter in danger, especially if he goes and loses it while he's still over there.*

The instrument lights gave the pilot, the solo occupant a eerie reflection through the cockpit window. The interior lights slowly illuminated as the craft shutdown and the door hissed while it depressurized and popped open.

: The new Chief Engineer placed his personal tote on the deck as he exited. He hesitated inhaling the smells of the Victorious and radiated pure joy at the sounds of the Discovery class vessel. He saw one of the shuttle operators keying his arrive on a PADD.

: Th'hon walked up to him. "Ensign, have this runabout serviced and stored. Have this tote taken to my quarters. I am the Victorious' new Chief Engineer, Lieutenant Th'hon Mithril."

: Th'hon tapped his comm badge to see if it had been interfaced with the vessel. =A= Engineer Nell to Shuttle bay Two.=A= He hoped to get a briefing and acquainted time on his way to Engineering. If not, he thought he'd visit the CO or XO. He glanced at the shuttle bay force field as it turned opaque and thought about the peaceful silence of the space vacuum outside. This maybe his last quiet moment before he started duty.

The turbolift shifted and sped along and ended with a slight jolt. =A=Deck 4, Sickbay.=A= Th'hon thought, 'I knew that! Is this a passenger vessel!?!'

=A=Computer, remove vocal...=A= He thought, maybe he should ask the senior staff first. The computer chirped, notifying him of an incomplete request. =A=Disregard.=A= He reached for his PADD and made a note to make a request.

He crossed the corridor, through the sickbay and rang the chime to the doctor on duty for his physical.

Caileigh nodded "Well whatever we're going to do we need to move as quickly as possible. These folks don't have much time." She said as she looked at the most recent scans of the victims lying in the cargo bay.

Jorran overheard the conversation, looked over at Lt. Collins and commented "Got the memo, thanks!" While speaking, Jorran slipped into the nearest turbolift to make his way on down the the shuttle bay. The ship was far newer then the USS Lakota, the Excelsior-refit class cruiser that he had been stationed on before, and as such Jorran was not used to the layout. Eventually finding his way down to the proper Shuttle bay, after trying two empty ones on the way, Jorran marched in and greeted his new boss.

"Hello Sir! I am Lt. JG Jorran Nell, your new lackey." Jorran smirked at his last little remark, he had found that after fighting off Cardassians and repairing the rebellion's ships, that humor was his next best gift. "I hope you had a pleasant flight where would you like to begin?"

Dear All,

So sorry for my recent absence, I have been judging a major gymnastics competition over the past week and despite being assured by the B&B owner who we were staying with that there was wireless internet access in the room, when we got there I couldn't connect at all as we were in a very rural area.

I will read through everything but if you could just give me a nudge for anything that needs my attention in case I miss anything.
