ACADEMY REPORT 15 Feb 09

FOREWORD
This report is an update to the report dated 1 Jan 09. The next planned report will be 1 Mar 09.

1. CADET DEVELOPMENT
Following a successful discussion, this has now been briefed to Academy COs and will be implemented for all cadets joining from 01 Feb 09.

2. RETENTION
Cadets are once again being tracked, so this should give us an idea of how many are AWOLing, never posting, etc. Further to this, all cadets are being sent a welcome email explaining how to navigate to their ships and how to make their first post.

Over the next couple of weeks, there will be a discussion on a survey for cadets. The work on the job descriptions for each position in the Academy fleet continues.

3. NEWSLETTER
I am pleased with the discussion that has taken place in the Academy. Jerome Davis has agreed to run with it, so I look forward to seeing the results.

4. HELP PAGE
This discussion is now happening in Command.

5. ACADEMY COURSES
From 01 Feb 09, all courses will be checked to ensure that they have been marked and the results submitted on the graduates lists. If anyone has submitted an exam prior to this date and has not received a reply, please email acmdt[at]star-fleet.com. If anyone has passed an exam and is not on the graduates list, again, email acmdt[at]star-fleet.com.

6. CONCLUSION
We’re getting there! The Newsletter discussion was fantastic, and we have had some really good suggestions come from that. I am also impressed with those COs in the Academy who have embraced the cadet development plan and especially Krys Bromillow who has already started writing reports for older cadets on her ship.

With regards to the fleet, I am concerned that the Discovery has spent a fair amount of time without a GM. If anyone is interested, please drop me an email!
