Yes. They are often the bane of every XO/CO/GM/FComm and all the other poor folks who have to fill them in.
Yes. They are probably the least exciting part of STF.
No. You can't just shove them under the carpet.
But! They're important and necessary - so why not make that experience a little easier!

That is what SURFs (Standardized Universal Report Forms) are all about and it's never been easier to get excited about reports!

Everyone is currently being given the opportunity to say how they want this important part of STF to function. So, if you ever have submitted a report, you are aspiring to that centre seat (or the slightly smaller one to the left of it) or you're an avid side simmer looking to move into the ranks of Evil GM then get yourself over to the Internet Department and have your say. Whether that may be that it's fantastic or that the whole project needs a rethink.
