: : : : : : Marketing MOTD seems to be broke... banner has vanished
: : : : :
: : : : : A case of someone naughtily hosting an image off site. No doubt the file was removed from the hosting site, thus it doesn't show up any more. This is why we ask that all images/files for the site are hosting on our own server.
: : : : :
: : : : : The best thing to do now would be for Liz or RJ to get in contact with Rob Thompson and get him to dig out the image file. From there, if it is sent for upload we will be happy to get it on the server.

: : : : : : and internet department is showing a strange message above the left hand symbol on banner
: : : : : :
: : : : : : it says no posts in this group.
: : : : :
: : : : : Not exactly sure what that is, but I'm surprised you've only just noticed it :P I guess it's to do with the Organic Groups module or maybe Drupal more generally. I wouldn't worry about it however, it's been like that since the beginning.

: : : I always figured it is cause you guys don't have a roster. Doesn't make sense, but you're the only ship I read that doesn't have a roster, and the only ship that its on so... deduction? Induction? I can never keep those straight!
: : :
: : : Jen
: :
: : actually, it does have a roster, it is just hidden, as is the roster for the PDept and a few RPing ships. (I know that, because I was the one who designed the current version of the PDept and IDept Rosters).

: Just raising this up again.. I think I've got the solution to this message appearing.
:
: The roster as it stands is hidden by this in the css:
:
: "div.view-og-ghp-characters {
: display:none;
: }"
:
: I experienced something similar to this on the Lexington when I had a custom roster. The problem lay in that I'd unrostered all the characters. When I rostered at least one of them, the message went.
:
: I think that you guys should try this -- I'm pretty certain it'll work and it won't display the roster as that line of CSS stops it from showing.. We've had this since we first came over to WeBBSpace because I imagine all IDept Characters have been listed as unrostered since that time.

Before MIRAGE, many MOTD maintainers (past or present) used something of a hackier method for hiding the roster. I don't mean "hack" as in being smart and breaking into bank accounts, I mean as in it was done crudely. :P
It basically involved removing some </div> tags from the bottom of the MOTD "box" as seen from the Edit page. Removing some would place it outside the MOTD section and into the 'content' section, removing others would effectively, literally hide it behind the MOTD section. I remember this, because if done improperly you would end up with the left side of your roster peeking out from behind the upper half of your MOTD.
