: : PS. I will reply to the rest of the discussion(s) at the weekend. I would be grateful if we can try not to race on ahead as some things that are being said aren't strictly true.
:
: Actually, I'll quickly answer things that have been raised.
:
: The 2 week period when COs cannot 'recruit' cadets will not impact on the cadet. They will not have to remain on the ship (although we may keep their name on the roster to help us keep tabs on which ships they are on).
:
: There is already policy in place to prevent missions from being more than 4 months. One of the ideas that has been suggested is that their should be a 'how to GM in the Academy' guide, which has points such as "don't have staff meetings". The CO should be the one enforcing that policy. Additionally, cadets that have not been review for 4 months should also be reviewed. I did have one from, I think, from the Columbia a few weeks ago, but the person wanted to remain on the ship, which I allowed as we're not struggling to fill spaces.
:
: In terms of asking Alt RP COs if they want cadets, I never place cadets without consulting the CO. As I said, we work with the COs to determine if that RPing area (being Alt or not) is suitable for each individual cadet (which is why I do not favour the PDept taking control of it).
:
: Going back to the original proposal, it seems that we are all in agreement that the procedure, as it stands, needs to be formalised with the inclusion of the 2 week 'don't touch' period.

How do you place Cadets? What is the process, from start to finish?
