GM Course & Exam on Starfleet Academy

: I agree with the comments so far about the availability of data for answering some of the questions. I was told when I started the process that some of the questions were no longer relevant due to areas of the site being revamped (specifically the Admin button sections which are still a mystery). I had to redo the question and answer section " A" as I was told that I was missing large chunks of information and that I had not answered some sections correctly. I went back and looked them over ( a process that took me many hours of searching and cutting and pasting) but could not see that this was the case or how I could improve my score. In some cases my answers were word for word taken from OGRE and other parts of the site but were after review still considered to be incorrect which I thought was interesting as I would of thought I couldn't go wrong with quoting direct text. In the end I passed but was told I had a bad score that wasn't really good enough even though it was enough to pass. I wouldn't consider myself brilliant, but then I wouldn't consider myself thick either. It strikes me that if we want quality GM's the likes of Mr Tribble then the exam needs to be revamped so that the question and answer section is a teaching tool about the job rather than a mystery search for clues amongst missing sections, then we could focus more on the creative side of things and prove our worth in that arena. To be frank the whole process was unrewarding and put me off GMing altogether as I was left feeling I wouldn't cut it. When I compare it to the XO's course which opened up a whole heap of new thoughts to me that have helped me perform my duties in that area more effectively it was not the same experience. I don't want this to come across as a gripe. I'm a big boy and happy to accept that my skills weren't up to the task but to be told I had stuff wrong without being told what the answer should have been is frustrating and uninformative. Feedback on an exam that has a low score should be aimed at telling the person where the information could be found or how the question was misunderstood rather than a simple "You didn't answer the question" in the hopes that suddenly the light will dawn :)

You're not the only one Ian, like I said earlier, I gave up after reading through the exam and realizing how non relevant most of the questions were. I give you props for fighting through it! ;)
