Tech: Sentry Gun on Engineering Department
And here we have the latest version of the Sentry Gun. In the interests of a properly formatted document, I've added section headers so that it conforms to the Tech Submission Policy
This review will be open until the 20th January 2010

Name Of Technology: Sentry gun “Hawk Eye” Auto mated weapon system,
Category Of Technology: Weapons
Description of Technology
This weapon system is designed to free up man power and allow for remote defence of a high
priority target, to act as an area denial weapon, permanent unmanned fire support for marine and
security forces.
Weapon specifications:
Dimensions:
Height: 1.2 meters
Length: 1.5 M
Width: 1M
Device arrangement: The weapon system is built on a tripod mount allowing for
maximum stability, the weapon portion itself is allowed to rotate the full 360 degrees and can be
elevated up to twenty degrees and lowered to -twenty degrees. It is encase in solid Duriduim providing
sufficient Armour against most energy and projectile weaponry. The 3 generators are located at the
base of each leg.
Power source:
One power cell for optics, sensors and control systems providing an operational standby life span of three days, active tracking and engagement mode life span of one day continues usage. Two power cells for main weapon package are used as the main power supply ,allowing for continual firing of standard phaser fire of up to level seven for one day, double cells allow for “field replacement” of one cell while the other provides power. Each cell provides power for continual phaser fire of up to roughly 12 hours.
Sensors:
Multiple sensors are built on board to the weapon system and are mounted in
Armored positions to protect against destruction by enemy fire, auxiliary sensor input ports are
Located on the rear most of the device thus allowing for extra sensors to be connected to the device for more precise operations. On board sensors include: Infrared, motion tracking, night vision, EM sensors and standard optical video unit.
Control: The unit is controlled by isolinear circuitry located on the lower half of the rear of the device, this is heavily armored and is difficult to replace in the field. The weapon system can be either manually controlled remotely from a standard starfleet tricorder, manually by a trigger system at the rear of the device, by a starship in orbit or can be left in standby mode to fire on a number of pre-selected variables.
Weapons: The system can be equipped with a number of weapon systems ranging from standard type 3 phaser rifles or a heavier “Compression rifle” version.
The usual arrangement is for the weapon to be slotted into the cradle upside down prior to initializing, the tripods power supply will over ride the weapons own power supply. However if required the weapon can be fired via the usual power cell however the optics and targeting systems for the turret will not function.
Portability; The device can be erected by a 3 man team within 10 minutes, providing enough time for operational checks to be done on the devices sensors, weapons and control systems. However a
“Plug and play” setup can be done within 5 minutes though this is not recommended as this bypasses all safety checks and simply activates the weapon ready for use upon erection.
Conclusion:
This weapon system will help reduce the load put upon starfleet officers and marine forces, it can be
broken down and transported within standard starfleet cargo crates.
