Work has begun toward the site clean up, and I will be contacting maintainers shortly to explain what needs to be done to make their areas compliant.

Focusing on filenames and images, there are a few policies I would like to put in place (some already are defined here: http://www.star-fleet.com/id/policies.php). Please feel free to discuss or ask questions :-)

1. Filenames

Files will be lowercase and only contain alphanumerical characters and a hyphen (e.g. stf-logo.png).

2. Special Files

Where x is the name of the ship/department/fleet:

x-logo.img is the name to be used for the 'button' logo (such as stf2-logo.png).
x-banner.img is the name to be used for the top banner used on MOTDs (such as id-banner.png).
main.css is the name to be used as the main style sheet for the external pages (such as /acad/styles/main.css).

3. Global resources

The following IDept governed images are available for use:

http://www.star-fleet.com/images/logos/
http://www.star-fleet.com/images/ranks/
http://www.star-fleet.com/images/starfields/

Images that are not ship specific (such as ranks, etc) are to be stored in these directories.
