Hey everyone!

Now that we're all well rested from the holiday (I hope), and back from LOA and what not, it's a good time to start this discussion. Where some people might do this differently, I want to start it at the very beginning, and try and get the best document possible out of a public discussion. So this specific discussion is about the Justice Bylaw's format. There have been a few proposals thrown to me, and some that I've discussed with advisers, but I want to hear what everyone thinks before I make a decision on how we're going to write this edict.

Currently, we're looking at forming two documents. The first would be the core bylaw, and it would list the intention of the document, define all the types of punishments by "level", and define any appeal process we decide on. For example, the most severe punishment we give out is a permanent ban. We would define what "permanent ban" means, and describe it as a "Level One" punishment.

The second document would be a list of offenses, their definitions, and which level of punishment should go with the offense. Repeat offenses simply escalate the level of punishment. Where there are more than one offense, we either go with the most egregious, or stack them (decided by discussion). We may list offenses by category as well, or just by punishment level (to be determined). This second document is meant to be fluid in that any offense that we don't account for will be added by Bill at the time that offense becomes an issue.

For this section of the discussion, please keep commentary strictly to the format of the document. There are a lot of ideas out there, and that's fine, but in the end we need to have a cohesive, transparent, and fluid document in order to provide the greatest protection for the membership. Keep that in mind when making critiques or alternate proposals.
