: : : So in effect do you mean like a disciplinary procedure, as in, major gross misconduct, gross misconduct, minor misconduct and misdemeanour, with a list under each heading of the issues in the catergory, then a corresponding list with punishments under each heading?
: : :
: : : Hells
:
: Exactly. If an issue isn't under the list, it needs to be added via a bill.
:
: : Well if that's the case why not look into the possibility of setting up a JAG body that will be impartial. That way the Prez doesn't have have to wind up being the bad guy here.

: I've always thought that the executive (i.e. President making decisions) should be separate from the judicial side of the house (potentially using EGO as it's an independent body that's already formed). The argument against it is that we generally don't have that many cases each term (1, maybe 2).
:
: The other issue to think about is whether the President is that only one that exercises punitive measures. They're actually not - I've thrown people out of the Academy before for their attitude; IRC operators kick/ban people for breaking channel rules; the PDept delete duplicate accounts; and the GMDept can strip a GM of their GM status. I'm also sure that some COs have told people to get off their ship because they have been hostile.
:
: More food for thought :-)

Unless there's a massive rally here in command for the idea, I will *not* be creating any type of JAG corp, lawyer/legal system, or anything else remotely involving multiple reels of red tape. And honestly, if there is a massive rally down that road, I would probably have to abandon this idea because that is the last thing I think this club needs, and I could not in good faith write a bylaw along those lines.

Thank you all for mostly staying on topic. I will try and do my best to steer the conversation to hit on what I know are already some controversial issues later on during the discussion. That is why it is important to stay on topic. :)

At this point, I'm going to try and have something drafted for next weekend.

Jen
