Engineering Directors Log

Last month I spoke about the slowdown we've been experiencing in the department and, indeed, clubwide. That's been something that seems to be starting to even out as people get to grips with managing their STO and STF time. We went through a very brief panic phase where my inbox was empty of open designs, but apparently all it took was a note in the department about how I had no designs and suddenly people start crawling out of the woodwork and submitting new drafts :P

We've seen the reintroduction of the long lost Mjolnir from Brandon Irvine which I look forward to reviewing next week (god and my sanity willing) as well as the eagerly awaited return of our most serious Heavy Dreadnought contender in the Andoria. After reviewing the Andoria, it is without a doubt the finest example of a heavy dreadnought i've ever seen pass through these hallowed and slightly rusty halls. I believe that with a few modifications and some editing for grammar and spelling, the spec will pass on its next review and I have little doubt that it'll be something the CO's of our two current heavy dreadnoughts (Entente and Ark Angel) will consider seriously as an alternative to the Nimitz.

My intrepid assistant Lee (we really need to give him a proper animal nickname...) has managed to finish up the mandates page format and has made some suggested changes to the SSSF format (mostly people disliked the guidance notes, stating that they were unclear and confusing), but the conversation seems to have stalled a little after a request was made for a changelog. I know Lee has a busy schedule at the moment so it's my hope that he'll get something put together relatively soon to give us a guide to what he has changed.

Work continues on the Abramsverse spec (seriously... I've watched the movie like 15 times now and I'm still going), but the good news is that we've passed the 50% complete mark and I hope that, obvious arguments aside, it'll be a spec that passes relatively quickly because I know we've been waiting for this for far too long and we'd like to have it up and running before the next movie comes out :P

In the coming month we should see the return of the Thuriasz spec as well as the hopeful return of a new draft for the Corvan Sea Base, since I missed it last time around (damn RL). Who knows... If the middle of the month doesn't bugger up my RL for the rest of the year, I might even get a look-in with a first review for the Abramsverse ship (still going with Kurtzman Class at the moment... Any suggestions on a name are welcome).

Assistant Engineering Directors Log

Unfortunately, February saw a slow of activity in the ED.
Project Updates:
Policies Page is ready, I'm sending it to Andy to look over before forwarding to the IDept.
The SSSF changelog is completed and will be posted for review.
The New NNP project will be a focus for March, as well as the issue of updating individual staff headers for every page . Once the policies page is approved and uploaded, we can reduce the number of pages in the ED directory to appease the IDept deities.
