Academy Report - February 2010 on Starfleet Command
Academy Report: February 2010
Commandant Kat Dedul
As promised, here's the Academy report, on time. And I even have some stats for this month! Go me! :)
The big announcements this month, lots of graduations on the Challenger, Apollo and Discovery! Congratulations are in order for all those who made it!
The second big announcement is that our GM course will be seeing a minor revision in hopes of getting more interested folks into the GMT program. The present course material will remain, the exam will merely be rewritten for the time being. I plan on continuing discussions on a full revision, however in light of the high number of LOAs in the GM department, this discussion will have to wait until we are in a much better position to discuss it properly. The Admin Menu course is very close to finishing, a bit more editing and it should be ready for the textbook shortly.
Overall glancing at the individual ship reports, I'm not seeing any major issues(and I'm certain my COs would let me in on anything of importance) so outside of the above tidbits of information, I have nothing else to report. It's been a bit quiet in the academy this month, our main excitement was the graduations!
Number of New Cadets: 14
Number of Cadets who AWOLed: 6(43%)
Number of Cadets who left: N/A
Number of Cadets who are still posting: 8(57%)
Number of Cadets who graduated: 10

USS Apollo:
==============
CO: Liz Caro
Crew posting level: 7
Senior staff posting level: 8
Overall ship health: 8
Ship status:
We have wrapped up this chapter of Gene's sim and are getting ready to start the next one once we finish up graduation. The new crew are settling in well and are looking forward to moving on to the next chapter.
Spotlight(s):
Sharon Miller has been an excellent writer and role model and will make an excellent chief engineer.

XO: Russell Watt
Excused, LOA

GM: Gene Gibbs
Crew posting level: 7
Senior staff posting level: 7
Overall ship health: 7
Sim overview:
Sim? We have a sim? Almost. Actually the sim essentially ended with this chapter in the first week of Feb. Essentially the culprit, James Atkins, a very disturbed individual, was apprehended but not before he set off the timer for the torpedo time bombs. They were beamed out at the last moment which saved the ship from certain destruction. The torpedoes in their blanket energy distribution nearly overwhelmed the Orion destroyer's shields. They limped away after the fleeing cargo vessel that they had come to the Mudd system with. Unfortunately the ship, with its shields down at the time of the explosion, also incurred some damage, notably to a nacelle which limited their pace and ability to pursue. On the domestic side of things the horta Amicus is getting settled and appears happy on board.
Still the question of Outpost IV remains which will be delved into in the next chapter. The 'rabbits foot' gambit is over though still there are the outstanding questions about the Vulcan, Serel, and the Orion slave girl, Treena who is on board. Not to mention what the Orions were doing at the Mudd system in their brief stopover. Some of these questions and more will be resolved in the next chapter of the tales of the Apollo.
Spotlight(s):
Sharon Miller! Woot! Very good! Matt Brown has made a good showing this month in sickbay. Good job I say, given that I'm a pretty useless medic myself.
==============
USS Challenger:
==============
CO: Jen Herr
Crew posting level: 8
Senior staff posting level: 8
Overall ship health: 8
Ship status:
We finished our sim, graduated, and are starting our next sim now. The ship retains an above average health status because everyone has involved themselves in side sims during this down time, and though we don't have lots of Cadets, the ones that we do have that are posting are posting well.
Spotlight(s):
None this month, but congratulations to the graduated Cadets! J McNeill, Michael Dunn, and Krys Tin!

XO: Tyra Schroll
Crew posting level: 6
Senior staff posting level: 6

None submitted.

USS Columbia:
==============
CO: Katherine Dedul
Crew posting level: 7
Senior staff posting level: 8
Overall ship health: 8
Ship status:
We're doing pretty good, as usual we've had quite a few AWOLs this month at the cadet level. But the cadets who have stayed and posted are doing fantastically, if they keep going, they will definitely be among the graduates when the sim wraps in another month or two.
Spotlight(s):
Mary Church, Tucker Bryant and Israel Pinheiro are the key cadet players on the ship, they post often and they aren't shy about getting involved in things that are presently going on with the ship.

XO: Hells Hosick
Crew posting level: 7
Senior staff posting level: 7
Overall ship health: 7
Ship status:
The ship is doing well we have had a couple of LOAs but on a whole we are slowly but surely pushing forward.
We are currently on the 2nd loop of the time warp sim that Jason has put together, this loop is moving a little slower than the last, mainly due to the fact out GM is currently LOA
Spotlight(s):
Mary Church, Tucker Bryant and Raul Melendez
============================
GM: Jason Y. Lee
Crew posting level: 5
Senior staff posting level: 7
Overall ship health: 7
Sim overview:
The ship blew up, revealing that the sim is a time loop sim. We've started the second loop just recently but the sim is progressing slowly
==============
USS Discovery:
==============
CO: Robin Bird
Crew posting level: 6
Senior staff posting level: 6
Overall ship health: 5
Ship status:
We have just finished our latest sim and our latest batch of cadets have graduated. We are now enjoying some between sim interaction. Meanwhile, I'm trying to find a new GM so we can start our next sim.
Spotlight(s):
Jody Romero gets the spotlight this month. He was able to give us not only an adventurous sim but also bring it to it's conclusion in the time allotted for graduation. Job well done.
============================
XO: Cordell Garrett
Crew posting level: 8
Senior staff posting level: 8
Overall ship health: 8
Ship status:
The Discovery just recently finished its mission and on time thanks to our outgoing games master Jody Romero. The Discovery has returned to Earth and is now in between assignments
Spotlight(s):
Ty Napier, who did an outstanding job as Chief of Security.
