: : : : : : : : : Lok, after having completed his mid-morning binge (and subsequently having his drinking privileges limited to between 2200 and 2215), returned to the Falcon's Maze in the hopes of getting the owner of the place to... well, actually, considering it was the owner's day off, it didn't matter. He decided that, in spite of the lounge being empty, he would offer anybody who decided to enter some entertainment. For the moment, he decided to sing a song that he'd heard in a bar on Risa. He'd modified the lyrics a bit - they were a bit too bawdy for the common crowd - but the music was still good.

: : : : : : : : : He walked over to the music synthesizer and input a few quick melodies in G-sharp major - for whatever reason, the composer had decided that eight sharps were appropriate for a song about drinking and fighting while... well, the rest was what he had changed a bit. It was still quite rousing, and as there were technically only seven notes instead of eight in any given octave, it was easier to remember. After he'd finished off quickly tapping in the final chorus - the work of ten seconds that would expand to thirty, he gave a ten-second delay and pulled out a microphone.

: : : : : : : : Kyle was there. He'd been sitting by himself after getting off his duty shift. His light dinner with beer had arrived. A nice tuna salad. He listened to the singer sing. Kyle had never been one for group perfrmance. He didn't mind watching. But he could never sing, or dance, or play, in front of actual other people. Too embarassing.

: : : : : : : Lok finished the song, and noted that he had an audience. Small, but it was an audience. He figured that it was better than nothing. He found an old Earth standard - something by Cole Porter - and set it up, then began to sing again.

: : : : : : : "Thanks for listening, and not throwing anything," Lok said, smiling a bit before he came in, though the song was a whole step higher than the original composition.

: : : : : Valerie was sitting in the corner, not quite sure what to make of the entertainment. She'd definately heard worse in here - kareoke night could be a little painful on the ears.

: : : : Lok hadn't noticed the CMO in the corner, but decided to talk to Riggs after he finished his next song.

: : : : "We're not usually a sociable bunch unless you're a criminal - well, at least according to Federation law," Lok replied. "The full head of hair and the fascination with theatrical performances made me pretty much a weirdo, so none of the people involved in the more... interesting aspects of Orion life thought it fitting to involve me. Do you happen to have any requests?"

: "How about Venus. Reminds me of the Orion girl cadet that I knew at the Academy," Kyle said.

: : : Valerie looked over at her glass and realised it was emptying fairly rapidly. She had an important decision to make - drink slower, or just order another one. It took her about two seconds to call the barman over and take the second option. Well, she was off-duty after all.

: : Lok noticed the barman taking away a glass from somebody in the corner and said, "Be careful how much you have. That stuff can be a little too much fun, if you take my meaning."

: : Lok noticed the dirty look the barman gave him, and gave a shrug. So he'd thrown a shot glass at the guy's head. It wasn't like he was sober enough to have meant it at the time.

: "Life's very boring without a little fun once in a while!" Valerie called from the corner.

After that little bit of banter, Lok nodded and went over to put in the Frankie Avalon song that Riggs had requested. As the music started, he said back to the woman in the corner, "Just make sure you don't have too much."

He then started singing the crooning song, speaking of unrequited love for either the goddess herself, or a woman that could have been the goddess.
