Command Fleet Report on Starfleet Command

Command Fleet Report
February 2010

I'm not sure that we have picked up the pace fully yet, but we do seem to be recovering some activity from that December/January slump. I didn't meet my personal goal, which was to have a draft of the Justice Bylaw written by the end of the month, mostly due to work stress. However, I have finished my dispatch training and exams, so I should be less stressed for the time being. With that said, I'm afraid I don't have much else to say about Command for this month! I would like to send out a HUGE thanks to my Executive Assistants for getting their reports in this month, in a timely matter at that! I didn't have to do any chasing or pleading or anything. Thanks guys!

Edict Cake Winners:

Edict #6 – Helen Hosick
Edict #7 – None Yet

And with the #6 win, Helen moves into first place, with 2 collected cakes. There are two edicts that haven't been named yet, so there's room for someone to pass her!

E or I LOAs:

This is actually a complicated section to write this month, so I'm adding a new section, see below.

Marketing and Advertising Coordinators comments:

Although there hasn't been much discussion in marketing this month there has actually been a reasonable amount of activity. From what I understand the video is doing well even though we're having trouble finding people to help and all we really need now is find suitable music. People are taking advantage of the facebook fan page, both advertising their ships and also some good chit chat.

Russ also resigned earlier this month and so I was tasked with finding a new assistant, after opening it up to application I announced Sam Bibb as the new assistant marketing and advertising coordinator. Obviously this is also the reason why there is no comments from AMAC.

Librarian Comments:

This month, although we completed no edits to the library, we have seen a major achievement in the successful reactivation of the build scripts for the library on Larry’s server, which means that with some practice we will both be able to actively build the library rather than having to rely on each others rickety schedules for edit and build times.

We haven’t managed to do more than a very brief template discussion for the bills and bylaws document and it’s something that Larry and I are attempting to prioritise as something to achieve before June.

There are several edits that need to be made, including the addition of a new Bills book to allow us to archive bills since the President hasn’t stated a preference to archiving these along with edicts to date. There are a number of bills to include (including the removal of MIRAGE as a bylaw, although we would hope that the Internet Department can include it in an update to the SCSI bylaw).

In the coming month, we’ll be updating the library to reflect current changes and creating a new book to archive bills, unless we receive an objection.

Such as it is...

After a long delay while I was distracted by business matters, I've managed to get back to the WeBBspace upgrade.  I've taken a recent snapshot of the live database and confirmed that the upgrade process is *almost* stable.  We are also still waiting on the CSS module to support versioning, a patch for which has been pending in that module's queue for nearly a year.  (This module is co-maintained by Sam Bibb.  I may apply for co-maintainership myself if there is no movement soon.)

The revised theme is also almost done.  There's just some bits and pieces not lining up properly.  I may just launch as is and then tidy those up later. You folks won't mind, right? :-)

Still no ETA, but I am going to try and get it ready before conference season hits in earnest.  Yeah, I know, this was supposed to be done a year ago. Various parts of it ended up much more complicated than I expected, and more than they had any right to be.  The appropriate other Drupal developers have been smacked for that.
