: : : : : At the moment, I have not got a clue as to what the problem is, why we should address the problem, what the pros and cons or indeed if the club actually wants a ship. Until we have answered these, I think we should just hold fire on critiquing the charter.

: : : : Alt RPGs don't need to use this format, as the "problem" is standard "we don't have this type of ship", as is the solution "we should commission this type of ship". We still need a discussion about if the club actually wants this ship. Harley asked how to start that discussion and I suggested either free form, like Cordell did, or dropping the charter in. Either way you have the idea and can discuss the merits. I've already weighed in a few cents on this in email, so I'd like to see if there are comments from any other members before making public commentary myself.

: : : I personally think having a ship that deals with the law side of things is a great idea. I think this would be highly interesting as you may have to investigate a case and then take the accused to court. I also think adding in the diplomacy side is also a very good idea. You'd have to deal with first contact missions adding to a number of interesting sims. The USS Resolution has my vote, for what its worth. <BG>

: : Having recently stated rewatching JAG I am in love with the idea and anytime you add something new to the club weather you like the idea or not it always brings in new members. It has my vote.

: I also think this is a great idea. We don't have anything like this in the club. Like Tom said, we would have a way to take it to court. This could be also used as an opportunity for a way for different ships to interact (providing we can find a way around coding of course). Hmm, thanks to Harley, I need a JAG now, come to think of it. I think you set me up! Count me in

I think the oppourtunity for rping in this venue would be very challenging and I support that it be a second character only area. I believe there should be a time constraint on it as well. i.e. Must be an active member for minimum of 120 days (or something like that). I also have a few questions.

Would this ship travel to places where a 'courtroom' was needed?
Would there be several voices that rotate on the panels of 'judges' as in real military courts or just the command staff?
Would the cases be brought by the rpgers in a self-sim atmosphere or would the GM have to be handling and inventing all cases?

I believe I might enjoy this deeper level role play opportunity. However I do not think I would want to continue with it for years. So the turnover might be high on the rosters.
