I need to choose my words more carefully. At the moment, I feel it is too easy for an Alt RP to be approved (different from the proposal actually being drafted). Yes, we should make it easier for a discussion to be tabled (and stop people having to work out how to do something) but then we need a concrete and robust method of vetting such proposals.

No one can know for sure if an alt-rpg will be successful until it is put to the test. Rpg areas like the Ogawa, OED V are great successes. Then we have the Scotty Testing Center and the 403rd Platoon that didn't work out. But I don't think any of us could have looked at these ideas in their formative stages and said with 100% certainty that 'this one will work and this one will fail.' We just don't know. But I think this one is worth giving a try.

Interestingly, there is nothing that states that an Alt RP must have a trial period. Which brings me back to my original point, what is the process for tabling an Alt RP ship and what is the process for approving one. As for the 403rd Platoon, a few of us did say exactly that; 'this will not work'. Our argument as to why it wouldn't was because there are marines already on board some ships and it had actually been tried before, and failed back then too. I was, however, amused that the name of the platoon was the same code as a HTTP 'forbidden' error.
