: : Cyradin joined Stark and helped him review the logs. The logs showed that the usually composed Romulans were all suffering from bouts of mounting hysteria. The logs included messages home to families and other such things. There wasn't much else amongst the logs.

: : The Romulans seemed to focus their attention on the cannister and a variety of attempts to remove it. All of them failed.

: : The environmental logs showed an increase in nitrogen about three days prior. Based on the order of events from the sensor scans, log entries etc ... it looks like the following happened ...

: : 1) 'Mysterious Senator' arrives and issues commands ... due to rank/seniority etc he is left alone in the engineering room.

: : 2) He departs the ship and leaves orders that the ship is to travel immediately to (the current location of the vessel) at maximum warp, without cloaking device engaged. On arrival, it is to engage cloak and seek to assist the USS Athena that will be arriving soon.

: : 3) The Romulans follow orders ... everything is fine until they reach these coordinates and attempt to engage cloaking device. That's when they got error messages and the sickness started spreading through the ship. Coughing --> Death ... Romulans are baffled, but their efforts seem to have met with failure. This happened approximately three days ago. At the same time, Nitrogen levels are also increasing.

: : 4) During that time, all the Romulans succumb ... except for one who has managed to be put in an isolation booth in sickbay.

: : 5) Athena arrives with their 5 cargo vessels ... the cargo vessels send away teams over because they 'want to help'. They went to a variety of different locations around the Romulan vessel. Most are unprepared for what they have found. The Vulcans are also succumbing to it ... the disease has been identified as oroborus virus. Apparently transmitted through touch/the air. The crew from the Athena have also sent over away teams ... leaving the CO, CSO and a range of NEs still on the Athena ... is the new helm also still on the Athena?

: : 6) The crew are investigating and have decided to send the Romulan back to the Athena to try to save him and get answers.

: : : : : : Stark looked closely at the display and then shook his head. "I'm coming up blank here. There could be a transporter trace here that would lead us to a better understanding of what we're looking at over there next to the singularity drive but I'm not sure. I think I've come to the end of my usefulness here so I'll leave you all to your work. I want to check in on the people in sickbay and see how they are progressing in discovering our mystery ailment. Keep me aprised of anything you find".

: : What was found was that the Romulan Admiral definitely left the ship. However, he seemed to have lost about 8 kgs between his arrival and departure on board the Romulan vessel. Either he knew the secret to rapid weight loss or he left something behind on the vessel ... a quick check of the stolen canisters (through a database or similar) would reveal that they would weigh 8kgs when full.

: : : : : After saying this she punched a few more buttons bringing up a diagram of the romulan core. A few moments of studying and she then used her psychoprojective telepathy to create a larger 3 dimensional model next to her to ease how well she could study it.

: : They had little more than a day to go before it would go kaboom on them. At its current position, it would take out the two planets. Even with all of the ships working in tandem, they wouldn't be able to move it away far enough. The planets had pre-warp civilizations ... and so they couldn't be moved by the Federation ... unless they had another large vessel around (does anyone have one of those hidden in one of their pockets?) it seemed that the whole thing was going to go kaboom on them and take out those two civilizations ...

: : NE Whoozey, the cute little medical officer who had beamed aboard with the others began coughing ... she had no Romulan or Vulcan blood in her veins.

: Burnett's face cleared for a moment, then suddenly he grinned. As he furiously pressed on his tricorder, changing the frequency modulation to adjust for interference from the partial instability of the quantum singularity, he spoke to Stark.

: "The Romulans knew about the canister, any active scans they performed would have already triggered the device, though such elaborate measures are not usually taken into account when considering acts of Terrorism, scan-sensitive devices aren't exactly bullet proof."

: As he completed the modulations to his tricorder, the CE ran another scan on the singularity.

Taking a deep breath Rice stepped a little closer to the canister and began scanning.
