: : : : : :
: : : : : : (OOC: I apologise for my recent absense. I have sent Ian an e-mail explaining things. So sorry...jewell)
: : : : : :
: : : : : : The counselor responded to Stark, and tapped her comm badge, =^=Tahlia here. I'm in sick bay at the moment and P'rell and I are in the process of walking the Bajoran's we found there, up to Deck 1, to join the others. Everyone we have managed to assemble together are in the ships ready room.=^=
: : : : : :
: : : : : : Counselor Qamar
: : : : :
: : : : : OOC No problem Jewell. You had a very good reason for being off the grid. Hope things are working out :)
: : : : : Ian
: : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : Their deeper scans revealed that the canister had no internal power source other than a very small battery that activated the release mechanism at the appointed time. There were no power emissions at present, but its presence in such close proximity to the singularity as well as the interaction of the virus with the core directly had been what had caused the instability. Before any other measures were attempted to repair the singularity core, it was advisable to remove the canister.
: : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : CO in that same sexy tribble hat
: : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : Redundantly R'han reported in. =^=Lt Rai, this is R'han. In theory, the Romulans have used injections of electromagnetic energy is a particular pattern at particular points to stabilize a singularity. Also... if your investigation and repairs permit. The computer suggest that the canister did more than just poison the crew. It had something directly to do with the singularity dis-stabilizing.=^=
: : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : R'han CTO
: : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : Stark grinned =/\= Nice work Mr R'han, now we have something to go on. I'll leave it to your discretion as to whether or not you keep digging or whether you wish to help the efforts in sickbay =/\=
: : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : Stark turned to the engineers. "Right everyone. Now we need to ascertain just how much electromagnetic energy is needed and in what pattern. I'd suggest a scan of the singularity to figure out whether or not they've used a pattern of electromagnetic energy to destabilize it in the first place. We aslo need to remove the device now that we know we can. That way we can study it more directly as to it's function".
: : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : Stark XO
: : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : Burnett nodded his head, "I can probably stabilize the singularity, but not while that canister is there."
: : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : Burnett looked around briefly, "Ensign Rice, suit up and remove the canister. We'll get a transport locker to move it without spreading its contaminate or compromising evidence."
: : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : "Lt Rai, I'll need your help stabalizing the singularity. That console over there looks to control the containment systems," he said, pointing to a console nearest to and facing the singularity. "I'll monitor it from here and calculate the necessary variance in EM energy."
: : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : Burnett
: : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : OOC: Sorry again for my delayed responses. 6-week old daughter went back to the hospital for a week and I just had impacted wisdom teeth / infected molars removed today. Its been kind of crazy.
: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : Sira motioned towards the canister next to her for Rai to take.
: : : : : : : "Wish I could help more but this really is out of my area of expertise."
: : : : : : : Shaking her head she let out a loud sigh "Someone remind me to learn Romulan when we get back."
: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : Ensign Bi'ran
: : : :
: : : : Beep ... beep ... beep ... beep ...
: : : :
: : : : That was apparently the sound of the Romulan systems working.
: : : :
: : : : Then it showed up a complicated series of documents written in Romulan.
: : : :
: : : : "Let me read that," said the human freighter captain, pushing his way to the console, "I'm probably our best bet to get out of this." He had refused any offer of a protective suit that was made to him, saying that the Starfleet crews needed it more than him and read through it with Blenkow (OOC: I hope that was name of that NE from much earlier ... notes on my old computer went with everything else, unfortunately), then he said to Be'ran.
: : : :
: : : : "Right on that console in front of you there are three rows of 7 buttons. When we give you the mark, start pushing those buttons. Top row is first row, middle row is second row and bottom row is third row. Got it?" the freighter captain asked.
: : : :
: : : : At the nodded response, he looked to Blenkow, "anything else, Ensign?"
: : : :
: : : : "In quick succession," Blenkow added ... "we need someone to give us a steady beat ..." he began clapping ... "someone keep that beat, choose a beat to push those three buttons one on each beat. Who'll do that? It is important that is done just right. A button push on each beat. If we mess this up, we run the risk of the whole thing exploding prematurely, and taking us with it. Better than average chance of that happening, Sir," he said to the ranking officer in the room.
: : : :
: : : : "After that, there'll be a faint click ... that is normal. Then a further two beeps, that too is normal. They'll go on our beats as well beep nothing beep beep." the freighter captain said, "I think I'm ready when you are ..."
: : : :
: : : : "Then wait for us to tell you the next pattern ... there'll be four such patterns. At that point, the cannister should be totally disarmed and the singularity should be stabilised. That's the theory anyway. Sir, once we start this, there's no turning back. This seems to be the best hope to save those two planets and really work out what's happened here," Blenkow said.
: : : :
: : : : The freighter captain gave a low whistle of surprise, and then looked at Blenkow, "I think I've found something else ... read it and confirm with me."
: : : :
: : : : Blenkow read it and his expression went dark, prior to swearing in a few different languages.
: : : :
: : : : "My sentiments exactly, will you explain it or should I?" he said to Blenkow.
: : : :
: : : : Blenkow motioned to the freighter captain to explain it and the freighter captain complied, "it seems that this cannister was set to release its deadly contents into the air supply of this vessel when the cloaking device was engaged. From the evidence, it would appear that this Romulan Senator, if he was in fact a Senator, and not some kind of infiltrator, left it here. It would explain the orders not to engage it until they reached here. It would also explain the secrecy behind the Senator's actions here. But why this and why now?"
: : : :
: : : : "We can worry about that later," Blenkow said, recovering his anger somewhat, "we've got two planets to save. Sir," he once again said to the ranking officer, "this is a delicate operation. I know that Fleet Captain Wolfe is very concerned that we let him know what's going on ... but could we possibly ask him for subspace silence for the next few minutes? Tell him, he'll know when its safe to talk to us again. If he doesn't hear from us ... and if they see the explosion, well they'll know we weren't successful. Anything that goes wrong here could have bad consequences for all of us."
: : : :
: : : : After the appropriate actions were taken, he looked to someone, "the beat please, if you don't mind ..."
: : : :
: : : : (OOC Basically first in best dressed on that :D)
: :
: : Tresha stepped up to the console and looked at the man, "ready," she said. Her hands were poised over the buttons.
: : : :
: : : : "Now then," the freighter captain said looking at Bi'ran, "are you ready? Remember on the beats ... one button on each." After Bi'ran's nod, he issued the first set of orders, "First Row Button Five, Third Row Button Two, Second Row Button 1."
: : : :
: : : : Blenkow found himself holding his breath as the beat continued to be tapped away ...
: : : :
: : : : - GM
: : :
: : : OOC ROFL! Good to have you back :) Ian
: :
: : Tresha kept in time with the beat and pressed the buttons in time with the person who was keeping the beat, she looked at the console only, keeping her attention sharp on the task as she listened to the instructions told to her.
: :
: : Lt. Jg. Rai
: : Tinkerer
:
: Rice stepped closer to Tresha and watched as she worked the console like a piano, trying to see if he could memorize the sequence as he copied it onto his data padd.
:
: OOC - Must apologize too for my abscense. Schedule was bad for awhile. I'm ok now if anyone wants to point me in the right direction.
:
: Ensign Rice, Engineer
OOC: Glad to have you back, Lawrence. This is as good a place as any for you.
IC: Silence throughout the room with the exception of the regular beat ... then on the beat beep beep pause beep.
Blenkow looked at the screen again and said "Next set for you is Third Row Button Six, First Row Button Four, Second Row, Button Seven."
