: : : : : : Wolfe locked eyes with Waters for a moment before taking a breath and continuing, aware of how suspicious his words sounded =^= I have a very good reason that you should not board, Commander. The Nervosa has been contaminated with a virus which seems specifically designed to target Vulcanoid lifeforms. That is the sabotage which killed all but a single member of the crew. We have stabilised the singularity core and are in the process of decontaminating the ship, though a number of my own people were infected before we detected the virus. Once our decontamination process is complete, you will of course be able to board normally and begin repairs. I would invite you or any of your crew that are willing to take the risk to beam over in atmospheric suits and supervise my crew if you would like, but we must ensure that any secondary infections amongst the stronger nonvulcanoids of my away teams are stopped before I can bring them back to Athena. I'm sure you understand the need to contain this infection. =^=

=/\= Give us a moment, Fleet Captain =/\= the Romulan Captain replied.

The Romulan captain motioned and the screen went blank.
: : : : :
: : : : : "It's a D'deridex class ship Sir", Dan said. Dan pulled up preliminary technical data on the Romulan ship and sent it to the Captain.
: : : : : The D'deridex-class warbird is classified as a battle cruiser by Starfleet. It uses a forced quantum singularity as a power source and has the latest in Romulan cloaking technology, making the D'deridex one of the most advanced vessels in the Romulan Star Empire. These warbirds are roughly twice as long as a Federation Galaxy-class starship but have a lower overall maximum speed

: Dan sat and thought for a few seconds, *Typical. Someone else does all the work and the Romulans show up to claim ownership. They were probably sitting out there cloaked the whole time, just waiting for someone to take all the risks to fix their ship.*

An NE said, "Captain, it looks like the Romulans are ready to talk again."

And sure enough, the screen flickered back into life again.

=/\= I'm sure that trusting and helping Romulans is as difficult for you to accept as trusting and helping the Federation is for me. We received notice of the Nervosa's plight and headed towards the signal. On arrival, we saw you were already here, and we cloaked. Believe me Fleet Captain Wolfe, if we thought that you had anything to do with what has happened to our sister ship, we would have blasted you out of space. However, with your actions and your warning, we have decided to heed your advice. Any idea as to the nature of the virus that killed the crew of a D'deridex-class vessel? If it happened on that vessel, my concern is that it is a flaw on other vessels of this type. Perhaps we could meet in person and discuss your findings further, Captain? I would also appreciate being able to send a small team over to the Nervosa to run our own scans shipside. We might pick up information that your people may have missed. I am certain that your people are thorough and professional, Captain, but we work with Romulan vessels all the time. If you'd agree to a face to face meeting, I can play host to you here in 30 minutes. =/\=
